"GUT-PUNCH"? what does it mean to you,over heard 2 girls in thier early 20,s using that term at the gym this mourning? anybody?

sounds like a metaphor; emotionally feeling like you got hit in the gut. (stomach)

Bad news or unpleasant experience that affects you like a punch in the gut. You can give or receive a gut punch. Telling your b/f or g/f that you want to break up, for example, could be considered a gut punch.
