Salad are GREAT for you when they're packed with lettuce, veggies, and even fruit. When you add chicken, fish, or steak you add protein, which is great too.
When you add tons of fatty, thick salad dressings (like Thousand Island) you sort of cancel out the goodness of the salad. To keep it healthy use light dressings or simply pour a little Extra Virgin Olive Oil with a little salt and pepper over the salad.

the greens are lower in calories. Its not only the dressing that has a lot of calories, its all the other stuff people add to the salad too. like meats, cheese, croutons

well from the looks of it with all the e coli goin around i dont think it is that great im kinda scurred 2 eat lettuce. its not fattening without dressing. if u have 2 have salad then just put a little fat free dressing or italian.

Get a fat free dressing...they are all basically low carb and low cal when they are fat free...Lettuce (other than iceburg) has a lot of nutrients that keep you healthy...it is also a fat free calorie free food...its also good to add some other types of vegetables
