I had this problem before too. Just leave dry food out only for a few days, no wet or canned food. animals are not dumb if they are hungry enough they will eat!! They will not let themselves starve to death, they will eat the food eventually and it may take a few days but they will not die without food for a few days.

Start gradually mixing dry food with canned food. Start out with mostly canned with a bit of dry mixed in and continue adding dry as days pass, until there is more dry than canned. If this doesn't work, try moistening the dry food with a little bit of water, I had to do this for puppies at a pet store I worked at.

The cat may be a picky and eat around the dry food, if that's the case continue eliminating the canned. Once the cat realizes it's not getting the canned food it will HAVE to eat the dry food to keep from getting hungry.

You can try a number of things. First, the cat may not like the dry food you picked. I myself mixed a high quality dry food and the one he likes ( the cheap stuff) together. I also mixed in dried herring in there. Mix the dry with wet food and gradually decrease the wet/dry ratio. Pour the wet food 'gravy' on to the dry food. I have a friend who also pours a little of the 'sauce' that comes in tuna or salmon cans. She amazing with cats. In fact, her last cat lived to be 22yrs old. I would continue to give the cat both dry and wet. Make sure that the cat has plenty of fresh water. That stuff is pretty dry. Hope that helps

Most cats prefer the canned food. I've spoiled one of mine and thats all she will eat now, the other two still try to get as much canned food as they can but will eat the dry stuff. I tried putting the gravy from the canned food or water from a can of tuna in the dry food and they eat it as if its the best thing ever. Even my spoiled cat will eat it. Maybe that will work for your cat.

Start adjusting to dry food by applying 90% soft to 10% dry and keep doing this until you get 100% Dry. Span it out within a good time line. Don't do it overnight. Your cat may need a small can here and there, so try giving him/her a little soft food once in a while. Becareful of plants around the house (this switch can prompt them into eatting other items). Look up the dangerous plants for cats to eat on the internet and make sure you don't have any in your house! Hope this helps!

Put out only dry. Eventually your cat will eat it when it's hungry. BTW you are not starving the cat, it would be starving itself and will eat when they realize that is all they are getting. Don't mix, because if the cat doesn't eat it all right away it will expand the dry and make it gross. My animals never eat their dry food when it gets moisture in it. They are used to both and eat both but not when mixed together.

Cats have way less taste glands than dogs or humans. You want to make the dry food appealing to the cat. I do one or the other of two things:
- sprinkle warm water on the dry food and stir to bring out the 'aroma'
- add some 'tuna juice' from the tuna can. I give the cats tuna once a week and use the juice from this can on the dry food. When that's all gone, back to simple warm water.

only give him canned food in the morning. Make sure there is plenty of clean fresh water. I don't think anyone would want to eat dry food with out any water to wash it down with! Also, try different brands of foods, different flavors and maybe a different bowl. Don't stress tho--dry food is mostly grain filler and it is not a natural part of a cat's diet. As long as they are getting an adequate amount of protein, they should be okay.
