Did God free you from cigarette smoking? If so, how long did that process take? Or did He just BOOM free you?

Not necessarily from the act of smoking, but from the root of what caused you to smoke

Ya I got the boom,
Its been almost 9 years of being free, I can be around others that smoke, don't bother me, I have been healed totally.

It took 2 weeks of calming it, others praying with me, and laying on of hands. Falling back, in the Holy Spirit, and boom, done.
It took me 3 years to come to that place where I was ready to lay them down,
My faith was God can do it. I will let him.
It wasn't I do not want to yet. I did that for 3 years. I had to have a made up mind. All in one direction. Deliverance.
I got it.

Being a Christian helped, I am 72 years old, and have not smoked for18 years.
I am a young 72, I say that because I am a health professional, and still assist other people. I worked in a nursing home eighteen years ago, at the time in Philly, you could still go to a place behind the nursing station and light up.
When I quit, it was a time that we were terribly understaffed, cigarette breaks were few and far between.
I quit due to frustration, addictive starvation, and deprivation.
I believe that prayer did help. As a Christian I know that the prayer did it. God works in mysterious ways, his wonders to perform.
At one point I was going to a church, the pastor did not preach fire and brimstone, when I wanted to smoke a cigarette, my pastor did not want me to smoke in front of the church, but when I said that I was going for a walk behind the church, the pastor knew, he was not stupid, I guess he did the right thing, and waited for the Lord to work, which he did.

It took prayer, patience, and perseverance to stop the nicotine habit for me. I had smoked for 25 years before I realized that the LDS teachings were true for me.

It was tough, but I quit cold-turkey. My being active-duty in the Army at the time helped immensely because I ran and ran some more to get the addiction out of my lungs. I knew how important the goal to quitting smoking was and I stuck to it.

That was in 1965 and among the best choices I made in my life.

God did not just boom free you though I have seen some who went that quickly. I just prayed a lot for strength to get through it used the patch and did it. With God all things are possible.
