My bf and i like to call each other things like for him i call him my guido or ginny and he calls me his sp*c or latina. Both of our parents seem to take great offense to this even after almost 4 years of us dating and doing so and in public people do double takes and seem to get angry what gives?Its only a joke?We love each other and may get married.

Even though you are making lite each others culture, I am assuming, others may take offense because those names habor some negative meanings to them. Im not saying you should stop calling each others those name , but maybe not in front of others you know it bothers. Even if it is only a joke and you do it out of endearment to one another. People get mad at what they do not understand.

As long as the two of you are happy, I wouldn't worry about what other people say or think. After all you were not put here to please them in the first place.

they don't know you and they think you are being racist or prejudiced or something. you can't expect people to understand your inside jokes. and sometiimes parents disagree with the new generation so there is nothing you can really do about it.

ANYTHING can be said to me , as long as it's in the right tone. You KNOW when peeps are try'n to hurt! & even tho i am old(42) , I STILL say old people-old idea's. just curb it when they R around!
