If it is feces you should also place that in the litterbox as well so kitty can smell it when he investigates the box.

Yes that's fine. The first week of training you may want to place the litter box somewhere that the kitten will find it right away. I had mine in the kitchen by the door then moved it to the basement. Make sure when you move it that you show the cat where you placed it. The first day my cat did it on the floor after I moved it, so I put her down in the basement for a couple hours and it hasn't happened anymore. Do not place litter box near their food and water. If she poops again on the floor pick of the poop and place it in the litter box then put the cat in there so she knows that's where it's supposed to go. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!!

Your Kitten should have natural instinct of using the litter box, try placing the litterbox closer to where the kitten is (not near food or water). If the litterbox is too big that could be a problem also. But usally cats have no problem using the litter box. Sometimes when a cat doesn't use the litterbox that is an idication that there is something wrong, try going to your vet to make sure he/she doesn't have a urinary track infaction or something else. The vet is always the best place to go!
Also, my Cat urinated on the carpet the other day which was due to her litterbox not being clean enough, so make sure you clean it out often! Littermaid makes an electric litterbox you may want to invest in that, it comes with a ramp which should give your kitty easy access. Good Luck! Hope this helps! I loooove Kittens!

That seems a good idea. I would suggest putting the kitten in one room where the litter box is located until he gets used to using it. Also putting a stool sample in the litter box should also help. But don't put his food close by. Put it away from the litter box.

put the kittens paws in the littler box and mimic a scratching action like how they cover up ther poop and he should catch on...he needs to be taught thats what the box is for.
