It is shingles. Anf the color of the house well there is no color becasue i just added a two story to it and now the stucco is done and now it is time to paint>

white, gray and black is a classic combo.

i would suggest that you think of a color you really like.
now go to a paint store and look at all the shades of that color.
take home samples and hold them up or pin them on a board and lay up against the house to look at. or tape to the house to look at. this works for inside the house , so i would think it works for the out side .

any shade of gray would look fine..or a pastel color like yellow or blue..use a 3rd color(neutral,like beige,white or cream or a bold shade of the color used on the house itself) for the trim that coordinates for a modern look..
