the thing is that i am told that during that period of years in Greece there were many illegal adoptions. I mean, if a mother wanted to give her child, right after birth (if there were potential foster parents) she could give the child directlly to the foster mother who in her turn inform the proper authorities of her giving birth to the child herself. So the situation gets more complicated.

Hi i am adopted, i looked into finding my biological parents years ago, i'm 42 now, see if you have a birth certificate, i know that sounds weird, if you were adopted, there is going to be a certificate of adoption, as is in my case, as you are born after 11th November 1975 you have the choice of seeing an adoption worker or having the information sent direct to you, if you were adopted chances are the name you have now will be different to the name you were given at birth,

I know here in Ireland they have established a new National Adoption Register, it can be found on the link below. I've also put the link for UK register. If you live another country you cold try social services they might be able to point you in the right direction.
I have had a similar experience years ago someone told me I had a sister, when I asked my mum she denied it and got very upset. Now only 2 years ago my mum finally told me the truth that yes I have a sister who was given up for adoption when she was born, I'm now registered with the national register in the hope that she may come looking for her family.
I wish you all the best of luck and I hope things work out ok for you.

Call Social Services ( in UK - not sure of USA equivalent ), give your date of birth and any other relevant details you may know, they should be able to assist you or at least tell you where you can discover the truth. Please be careful though not to cause too much hurt to the woman you know as your mom as she may be terrified of losing you. Good luck.

have you ever seen your birth certificate? If it has your mum's name on it then you're not adopted,
If you don't have it, go to the registrar's office in the town you were born and request one, doesn't cost much, about 15 quid.
Good luck
