One of the most popular in high school was "buy a rose for a friend". Students pay for a rose, write a message, & it gets delivered to the recipient (by student volunteers--usually during homeroom). The students can indicate on the note who the rose is from or not.

Another involves the same type of activity as the roses only using candy.

Whatever your local sports teams are, selling beads in the team colors near games is always popular.

Of course, the old bake sale with donated goods.

Candy or food sell best. I know a lot of people asking for Subs. I can't find anyone selling them people like them for lunches and they can freeze them.

LOL...We just made a database on these for our moms group yesterday. Here are the ones we have. Search their websites for full details on programs:

* Labels for Education - program is run by Campbell's but other companies are also involved, see website for full details. Use labels to get goods from catalog. Participate in safety awareness, literacy, fire safety, etc programs thruout the year for bonus points (up to 2000 per year)

* Boxtops for Education - run by Betty Crocker but other companies also involved including Ziploc & Yoplait. Click boxtops from products, school gets 10-cents per top.

* Project A+ by Tyson - clip tops from Tyson products (box, bag, lunchmeat), school gets 24-cents per label.

* Home Team Rewards - clip labels from Fast Fixin products, school gets 32-cents per label. Website is Advance Foods.

* Innisbrook - Catalog sales, lots of wrapping paper & candy type things. Our school did well with this. School gets 50%.

* Entertainment Books - Go to entertainment.com to register. Sell books for 2-weeks and school gets 30-50% (depending on total sold). Books sell for $25 each and a lot of people know about them so at least $7.50 per book for school.

* Fry's Cool Cash - Register school on fry's foods website (think it is Krogers in some places) and get a barcode for your school. Parents take barcode to store and have it scanned along with their Frys VIP card. School gets $500 for every $50K in total purchases by all. Pass the barcode flyer around the neighborhoos & church.

* Escrip - Similar to above. School registers on escrip.com. Parents register and link to the school account & add their club cards from Safeway, Vons, etc. School gets 1% back on all purchase. Register Macy's card & school gets 1-6%. Other things available on site too, including Coupons for Kids (but this is limited to certain stores so area dependent). Go thru your registered account, print grocery coupons, school gets 5-cents for each coupon used.

* Staples Recycle for Education - Register online and print full list of accepted cartridges. Staples will send the school supplies to ship for free. Send in used ink cartridges for $3 each to school (cash not store credit).

* Upromise - This college savings program now allows parents to link their accounts to their school and use the money right now instead of for college. New accounts earn $3 for school. Register grocery / drug loyalty cards & credit/debit cards for cash back on purchases. Also click on links at this site to other online shopping sites and get cash back for purchases at the other sites.

* Market Day - These people have a Great catalog. I am trying to get our school to do it in the Spring. They also have candy bar ($1) and Cookie Dough sales.

Also check with the local kids places about fundraising nights. Chuck E Cheese does them and school gets 30% of all proceeds. Most skate rinks also offer programs. Ask about minimum participants though since you are a small school. Some give you nothing if less than 100 people show.

** One more, we are doing a 'Pennies for Playgrounds' program for new equipment. Get large jars and have the kids decorate them to really get into it. Then offer a prize party to the ones that collect the most change. Some stores might even allow you to leave them for a day.
