Absinthe does not contain any opiates. Best description I have of it is that it tastes like Liqourice in my expierence.

Absinthe is made from Woodwood a very bitter herb. (which is why it is mixed :
(Czech Method) one shot absinthe in the glass, 2 shots cold water poured over a sugar cube sitting on a slotted spoonover the glass and thw swirling patterns made is what is reffered to as "releasing the Green Fairy"
or
(French Method) flaming, and drunk while still on fire (this method often leads to supid injuries you get to exsplain at work the next day.)

The American version spelled ABSENTHE is made from Petite Woodwood, which doesn't cause the mental side effects caused but over consuption

you can find absinthe online if you search the right places.

If you live close to the canadian border, you can drink it there. (I'm from detroitish area, so canada is just a bridge away) I don't think the canadian version is psychadelic (probably doesn't have the wormwood) but it has an incredibly high alcohol content and will make you so drunk you can't even remeber you aren't hallucinating.
It tastes like crap though :P I thought it tasted like grass, oddly enough.

Google absinthe, a whole bunch of online stores will pop up. Find the best one and order. It is illegal, but it is classified as an illegal food substance and not as a narcotic. Most shops have no problem shipping to the US

I just saw something on the History cahannel on this. It is amazing. The drink is clear and they have a special glass that has another glass that sits on top of it.
They put ice in the top and add water. the water drips down into the drink and turns it green. When the color suits you you take the water off and enjoy.

A highly alcoholic liqueur tasting of aniseed and made from wormwood and herbs. It is you know illegal because of the alcohol % and dangerous to the internal organs. It was known to be used for embalming bodies in some parts of Africa by morticians decades ago.

Don't you hate it when people "copy and paste"? Go look for a liquor called "absente" totally legal here in the USA. Then go to a health food store and buy some wormwood extract. Put some in the drink and see the green fairy!

It's not always green, it's not psychedelic (beyond the alcohol), nor has it ever contained opium, and it's not exactly illegal in the US, only banned.
