If your asthma is triggered by animal dander, a lab is not a good choice. Get a Wheaten terrier, a labradoodle, goldendoodle, poodle, or Maltese. They don't have the same allergens as other dogs.

Labs are shedding machines. They shed alot and they do it year round.
If you have problems wiht dog hair this is not the breed for you.
I am not sure if your asthma would be affected by hair but if it is do not get a lab.
They shed and there is no amount of brushing that will stop it.
They all do it and it is just part of the breed.

Are any dogs a good choice for people with asthma? Not really but you can prevent this by keeping your dog clean, washing her blankets regularly. Just like you would clean out dust. They are wonderful pets (kids) and will love you no matter what! Wonderful with children too!!!

Enjoy her and give her lots of attention and toys!

Asthma is the least of your worries.

Labs are incredibly hyper active until about 3 years of age.

Treat them like a mean kid, as they will chew/destroy/etc. anything that they can grab.

Asthma or allergies???

My husand has asthma and neither the Goldens, the Chow/Aussie cross or the Kuvasz or any other breed that we have ever ahd or been around bother him.

He is, however, allergic to cats so he has to de-sensitize to each of our specific cats. Once he does that, then he doesn't a have problem with ours - just any other cat that he meets.
