Sin is becoming more prevalent within the congregation as well as within the clergy because the church is becoming more worldly. Instead of the church being the controlling power, it has to conform to the controlling power. Without the power of government, the church is imbedding itself in its resident culture. Also, the church is no longer in power so that the sins of the church are more publicized. When the church was the governing power, the sins and flaws of the church were hidden whereas now they are eploited within the media as an example of the evils of religion as a hamper to modern culture. It's kind of saying "See, these people are no better than we are. Why should we change our lives because they say so?"

If it seems that way then I would suggest the reason may be that Christians are more sin conscious than secular society generally. I would like to think that Christians generally are, relatively less sinful than secular society but however you look at it, our relative goodness could never measure up to the standard necessary to earn our way into God's presence. We therefore are inherently in need of a saviour, Jesus Christ.

Larger census; greater per ca pita challenge to reach out! Despite that the need is growing larger and the mission of Acts 2:38 has not diminished! Simply letting the vile to roam about expecting someone else to 'handle it' is non-Christian! Allowing the murderous to be praised in our prisons only generates skools of the criminal mind-set. To reduce this prevalence of sin there must exist lethal enforcement of moral laws!

I'm not sure what you are basing your claim on. I'm not sure that sin is just as prevalent. It does exist within the church, simply because the church is made up of humans.

I'm not convinced that the prevalence is equal. But you are correct we as Christians do need to be an example, but it is not our calling to be perfect.

People sin. The Church is made up of People. Its sad that those in the Church decide to cover it up instead of punishing the guilty. That to me is the worst sin. I know the whole "forgive" thing but lets be real.

Actually I suspect that there is more sin outside of churches than inside them...it's just that church people are more likely to identify and comment on it.

I think it is because alot of people who think they are saved aren't really saved. There is a change that takes place when one receives Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. We become aware of our sin and don't desire to sin, we want to obey the Lord. Listen to the sermon that is listed below, it is really good. We are called to be separate from the world.

Because people think its all about ME or themselves. Their is no spiritual conviction. They don't believe that God is greater than Satan. The worldly pleasures are appealing.

The earthly stuff will past, but it is the invisible unseen stuff that is eternal.
