Most of the Christians I know don't really know God. They have some book learning, but they haven't really met God. They could never understand the Pagan concept of 'Drawing Down'.
A personal experience of Deity goes beyond saying a prayer and being 'saved'. True, some have felt inside the numinous, the power of something greater than themselves. Some claim that their faith will eventually guarantee that they will be successful. Some actually are successful in business and family.
The problem is that a Christian is no more likely to be successful than anybody else. Perhaps those that are not are holding on to the belief that they shall receive a greater reward afterward.
I believe that we are each responsible for what we accomplish while we are here. It's like the story of the man praying to God every day to PLEASE win the lottery. Finally one day god sort of raps the man on the head and says "Help me out some.... buy a ticket".
If we aren't acting, if we aren't exercising the gifts we were given, if we in false humility claim to have no tallent, we're squandering the gifts that deity has given each of us.
Sitting by the sidelines isn't an option. Waiting for opportunity to come our way will avail us nothing. If we're given talents it's our responsibility to find a place to put them to use. Doing so, success will follow. Doing not, failure will necessarily result.

it is always easier to judge another than ones self.....
Christians have information from the Scriptures in regard to God and things of the universe......
we all could do a much better job than we do in this life - this can be said for believer and non-believer alike

Formal Education is not a requirement from the Scriptures
I know some real "educated" people who have no common sense whatsoever.

Money Problems - obviously know what the Scriptures say but are not sticking to The Plan

Family Problems - we will all have these - anytime you have two people you have two different opinions - even the most faithful and faithless of people have discord in their homes.

Bad Habits - to repent/convert is to turn away from
weakness is what brings about sin

Christians are not perfect - that is just what the faithless "expect".....we are simply forgiven and grateful!

Just because they are all those things doesnt mean they are failures at life and it doesnt mean they dont know anything about god. Some peoples life are just that way. Alot of it happens for a reason, nobody knows why but trust me it all has its reason. Plus some of those problems are test in their life, not nessicarily from god but from the devil. The devil faces us with challeneges everyday to try and break us and change us but if they are strong then they overcome these things. I have no doubt that the people you are mentioning will overcome these things as long as they stay strong and keep praying. But where you are at in life has nothing to do with ones faith. That comes from inside.

Maybe the Christians you know are like Jesus Christ.
Jesus did not go to Harvard.
He never had money.
He had bad habits of healing sick people and hugging lepers.
He was a failure because the Jews never accepted him...they killed him!

Jesus said, if you would be my friend, you must deny yourself, take up your cross daily...and follow me.
The life of a true Christian would not be one of ease, or comfort or wealth. Jesus once told a rich man 'Sell all you have, give to the poor and come follow me.' A true follower of Christ would be poor, homeless and a failure according to the evil system we live in.

You can claim to know anything, but you must prove it to me before I ever except it. In doing this they have been failures, but I know many Christians who are succesfull in life. Success is not measured by education, money problems, family problems, bad habits, or anything else. It is measured by happiness.

If they were following the doctrine of the Bible their lives wouldn't be like that. The principles of the Bible work in life. My Life is a living example. BTW: My husband and I are Christians both formally educated...happily married...financially secure...with very few bad habits (My worst one is Yahoo Answers)

Because becoming a Christian is not about living according to set of rules, it is about accepting Christ as Savior. The Bible calls David a man after God's own heart. Perhaps you are familiar with the twenty-third Psalm?David was the penman of that Psalm. David was a great man, but read Psalm fifty-one and you will also see that he was a sinner. David committed adultery, had a man murdered, and lied covering up his sin. What made him a man after God's own heart? It was because he was willing to see his sin as God saw it. Because of his sin the rest of his reign as King was filled with turmoil. In closing I want to encourage you not to look to the students, who often fail miserably, but look to the Master: The Lord Jesus Christ. He wants to take your life and not just save your soul from hell, but to have a relationship with you.

because they are the arrogant christians, not those of us who are humbled and want to be of service to God, not claiming to know everything about God and his plans, just using the knowledge God gave us to do his work.
