Fetus get X/Y chromosome from the father. So the true determinant of the sex of the child is what fertilized the egg - a sperm with the X chromosome or the Y chromosome.

The sperm determines the gender of the child. Some sperm carry a male chomosome and some carry a female chomosome. Whichever sperm fertilizes the egg, the chromosome it carries determines the baby's gender.

The Male.
Sperm cells carry either an 'x' or 'y' chromosome; which one fertilizes a female's egg determines the gender of the baby.

When the egg is penetrated by the sperm it will become a female if its a Y chromosome and a male if its got anX chromosome so its totally down to the male what sex the baby is. Women only carry the Y chromosome and mens carry both.

I think that comes from a higher power. Although it has been said that if she does all the work it will be a girl and vice versa for a boy, but thats just a myth in my opinion.
