I'm an atheist I know nothing happens when I die,

but what Id like to happen is my "soul" would be on a beach barbequeing and drinking beer with all my loved ones and friends,

Put aside that you are an atheist, if you could have an afterlife, for your soul, what would you *want*.

I don't, Jim. Ever get bored? Ever want to just lay down and take a nap? I watch my grandfather. He eats, he sleeps. He has joy once in a while. The last time I saw him smile is when he found out he beat my son by 8 points in scrabble. I can only play so much scrabble in "heaven" before it gets old too. I know it is supposed to be like taking a happy pill and you won't recall the bad things, but who wants that? Not only does it sound silly, I can't imagine it being enjoyable.

My family on a beach might be fun for a while, but I can't stand them for eternity. I want to lay down and just end some day. We can't really imagine ETERNITY, I doubt we would want to live it.

Okay, Jim, Let's think about the concept of living for eternity on this earth.

Every fiction story I have ever read where a person lived forever, they got tired of living on earth. At some point, most became bored and wanted to get out of this world.

So, I guess in that context, I'm glad that there is a definite end to this life.

And if I'm going to have an afterlife, I'm glad it's arranged for the place that as a Christian, I know I'm going to after death.

Jim
This question is no good.
The way you positioned this is just plain silly. Jim you are conflicted about this topic. I think deep down you know some sort of an afterlife is comming for you. I am convinced you already know that...

I would say you are about 80% sure Christ is the answer for you Jim. Only 20% left to go!!!

I'd want to go on an adventure through space for a while. See what's far out there where we can't reach yet with the hubble telescope or anyother means. I'd want to dive through the storms on Jupiter and see what it's like on the surface. I'd want to try to posess the body of an alien , if I found one, and freak out his friends. Then, maybe look for Jim Morrison, or Johnny Depp, if he's dead too.

I guess a continuation of this life. I know that sounds like a weak answer but this life is all I know and I love it.

If I were an atheist and awoke on the other side of death I would like to have the chance to find out about the metaphysical truths that I foolishly ignored in my previous life.
