today I watched a programme and it had a police women , and she was trying to catch this man , but couldnt even be bothered to run after him and she even said she wasnt , and he ran away, the police woman was young and very unfit, she was over weight and couldnt run , and couldn't catch the man

that just shows how poor and how weak the police are , the police should be always healthy and fit and can ran fast, this is no good at all that they even unfit than the people they are trying to catch, they job is to protect people , and because of they lack of training and unhealthyness and fitness, I see no point in they should in any way even be in the police force, this is not just the first time, but I always see fat police people, man and woman, the programme was a real programme show the duty of what the police was doing , this just show how we innocent people , are not at all safe from bad evil people, and can make these people even more braver to keep carrying on ,in breaking law

the uk police force are a bunch of losers. they're not effective. as you point out the bastids eat too much and sit behind computers all day probably playing on yahoo answers and questions, its probably them buggers giving all the annoying answers, so criminals get away and never get caught, because the police are all indoors. what a life.

Im not a police officer. I think they do a good job as there is law and order on the streets.

like every other government department equal opportunities and positve decrimination kick in big style cos the government can't force private companies to take on the least wanted members of the public. Im sure given the choice I would work with a ex service man army etc than a ex lollipop woman. (that is the woman that crosses kids over the road).

That aside the radio is much faster than anyone can run and it depends on what the crime was.

Normally when cases go to court, no one is guilty until they have done something really bad and even at that they plead guilty to a lesser charge, thus saving the tax payer court costs.

The Police must be frustrated at case after case of criminal walking free and especially after filling in a thousand forms.

I reckon sentancing should be reviewed without the subject of money/cost being brought to the table.

It's a definite bone of contention for me and a lot of my fitter bretheren. It's disgraceful how the fitness standards have been lowered to the point that to pass you simply need to be able to push a weight of 35kg on a Dyno-Machine.

It's my opinion (and only that) that police officers should be stringently tested on fitness, ability to run, ability to wrestle, ability to demonstrate stamina. I also think there should be regular tests of ability. Why? Because no matter how well armed a police officer is, if you're only a 7 stone weakling you aint gonna win a fight against pretty much anyone.
I and my colleagues regularly goto the gym, and see body strength and fitness as a distinct advantage when dealing with many people. You may never need to use your strength, but even the most crooked of people will think twice before fighting someone who obviously exercises.

And a response to Hayley in particular, often a PC doesn't have a choice but to remain in a car. If you work a 150sq mile rural area you don't have a choice at all but to drive.

Saw the same programme and do agree, but just realise that the girl was not a full time police officer but a "special community officer" who has very limited powers, including that of running after people who are much fitter than her!
However, yes the police in general are very active but just not very effective. With the legal system in such a mess, small wonder that most police do not bother collaring anyone unless there is a really good chance of getting a conviction.

the army, army, fireplace provider, and police tension do no longer positioned bodily weaker human beings in positions that require potential. So, except a woman is able to slinging a 200 pound guy over her shoulder on the same time as mountain climbing a ladder, won't get a job the place she'd be required to try this. It takes little or no actual potential for "crime busting." ninety 9% of suspects will resign upon being ordered to via an armed police officer. the different a million% tend to be taken down via canines, who're lots greater bodily perfect to the pastime than people of the two intercourse. the final analysis to me is that our militia and conventional reaction centers *are* being lifelike. they are no longer allowing a hundred and ten pound women to pull out the fireplace hose. given which you're definitely superb - that ought to positioned lives in threat. and that i accept as true with you approximately involuntary nationwide provider being, properly, to no longer mince phrases, yet an atrocity. a central authority that places weapons in unwilling peoples' palms and insists that they kill human beings or face imprisonment is a corrupt and evil corporation certainly.

does the syaing 'walk a mile in my shoes' fit ?

I agree not all officers are 'fit', but you mentioed training, there I beg to differ, police are trained by their respective forces to a very high standard, bearing in mind we carry no guns, fitness is a must. Chasing someone MAY NOT BE the answer in some circumstances, i.e kid smashes bottle and runs away, why waste the time, he's underage, parents coulnd't give a toss, three to fours in custody dealing with the little scrote, then he's let off. NAH, let him run thanks. Different scnerio (of which there are hundreds) guy hits woman and steals bag and runs off, but he may have a knife ???, chase or inform colleagues with full description so there are more of you to deal proprely, remember safety first !!!, red mist is out !!!, and above all, arrive safely.

Yes, the police should be able to run after criminals. BUT! There's more to preventing crime than running after criminals! Most of the crimes police get called to are domestic arguments. When they get to the scene, they are told by the very people who called them to get lost! I don't blame the police for the state this country is in, I blame the managers of the police and the amount of paperwork they have to do that is keeping them off the streets.

Have you noticed that the prisons are full, of what? Hundreds of people are arrested every day, most escape the court system, that is down to politicians dreaming up ideas that stop people being imprisoned. The police have their hands tied behind their backs, and are overburdoned by paperwork. As for fat policewomen, was the one who got shot a couple of months back fat?

Yes your correct the police are unfit, they should be made to do BFT's like they do in the army (battle fitness training ), the sods never turn up until every thing is over and the criminals have got away, but that saves them some paper work.

Unfortunately the police are now overwhelmed with political correctness and are mainly used by Blair and Brown to gather tax (fines) from motorists.

Most motorists caught speeding or for other minor offences will pay the fine without further trouble whereas most criminals and yobs will cause trouble of arrested and charged. Not necessarily violent trouble but the troublesome paperwork and allegations that they were only arrested because they are small, tall, gay. straight, black, white etc.

Therefore it is easier for the government to collect fines from motorists rather than other lawbreakers.

aparantly crimes commited in one area are done by the same people, a small minority of offenders. the mentality of the police force is that thay will get the offender on something as they tend to know who they are anyway...the job is catching them on something that they can serve time for. My b/f is a policeofficer and is dismayed sometimes by the lack of training given in fitness. He is in a section where they have to train physically for an hour a day. It should be a priority.
