We did most of what you are doing last October. Flew to Madrid, took the train to Barcelona to board ship, toured the Med and then we flew back from MAdrid.

Pack fall clothes, think layering and there will be at least 2 formal nights on ship; so take your best stuff: tux and full length dress, for that. Dress on ships is casual and what they call "sports casual" after 6:00 PM in the public areas like dining rooms, theater, casino, etc. Your shipwillprobably have an indoor pool and hot tub, so take swim wear. Take comfortable walking shoes. Be aware that there are pickpockets in Spain and in Italian cities. I recommend getting a pouch (from Target for about $20)for keeping your cash and passport in and keep it under your clothing. I kept mine in my drawers. When you leave ship take your passport and only as much cash as you plan to spend. Most of the countries you visit will be on the Euro (get some in the airport or on ship) so it will be easy to shop.Watch out for the Gypsies all overr the place.

The weather was good when we went, except for a rainy day in Florence and a few sprinkles in Naples. It was fall type weather, in the 70's days and 45-55 nights. We didn't spend much time outside on ship at night, but our balcony had pleasant weather/temps at night. We walked around Madrid and BArcelona and also had good weather both places. Long sleeves and sweater was all needed.

Your sail back to Miami will be diffferent because you will be on open ocean and temps and seas will be different. It will probably be much cooler than the Med.The cruise ship will probably have blankets available if you want to sit on deck.Pick up one as soon as you get on ship and keep it in your cabin for when you want to go out.

Enjoy
