The pharmacy is the part of the store where the prescriptions are filled. A "drugstore" usually has many kinds of merchandise, and also has a pharmacy in it. A pharmacy may be located in a grocery store, or a drugstore, or in a hospital, or it may stand alone.

Sometimes people use the both terms to mean the same thing. -But: A drugstore sells various items in all categories from over-the-counter meds - food & household stuff (ex- Rite-Aid, Walgreens) in addition to having a reserved pharmacy section inside the store (place where prescriptions/ medicines are filled & there is a licensed pharmacist on staff). Pharmacies are usually located inside grocery/drug stores, but can also be on their own, too. - I think Medicap would be an example

A pharmacy is solely a place where you can get your prescriptions and OTC drugs whereas a drugstore also carries other products. Like Walgreens or CVS are drugstores. They have other things like food, shampoo/conditioner, things like that.
