Umm... not only can anyone convert to Judaism, but some of the most influential figures in our people's history were either converts or the direct descendants of converts. Just to name a few:

1) Onkelos - Known for his commentary on the Torah that to this day is studied alongside the original text by orthodox Jews all over the world. A convert.

2) Akiva - One of the most celebrated sages in Jewish history. His parents were converts.

3) Ruth - Ever heard of her? Check your bible. A convert, and grandmother to David, King of the Jewish people.

Note that the Messiah will eventually come from David's line, meaning that the Messiah, the pinnacle of Jewish and all human civilization, will be the direct descendant of a convert.

How can you maintain that we don't allow conversion?

If we don't encourage it, it's because we only want those who are absolutely dedicated. Because once you're Jewish, there's no going back, and things that wouldn't have counted against you (as sins) before, would if you were Jewish. As a gentile, if you want to have a ham sandwich for lunch, then dig in. But if you're Jewish, it's a violation of biblical law. We don't want someone to convert unless we're sure that the service of G-d is always going to be more important to him or her than honey-glazed deliciousness.

There's also the fact that according to the Torah, one doesn't need to be Jewish to get on G-d's good side. As Maimonides said: 'the righteous of all nations have a share in the World to Come". So are you mad at the Jews for NOT condemning all those outside the faith to the eternal agony of the fires of Hell? That's rather silly, isn't it?

If you want to know the message that Judaism teaches for humanity, you can find it here: http://www.aish.com/literacy/judaism123/The_7_Noachide_Laws.asp

The Jews and the nations, in an ideal world, should be partners, us keeping the covenant of Avraham Avinu, the nations keeping the covenant of Noah the righteous, and thereby, together, perfecting the world and hastening the coming of the Messiah.

Judaism teaches its adherents to share their religion's message by example - by being good, decent people, and showing that it's through keeping G-d's teachings that this is done. Much nicer than torture, forced conversions, and murder, which is how a lot of other religions get their message across - don't you think?

There are several different denominations of Judaism. One can convert to any of them, the differences being in practice, not belief. The only belief that all Jews share is that God is ONE.

Anyone interested in converting must be persistent because it is a tradition to turn people away three times. When you convert, you are becoming a part of the Jewish culture as well as the religion.

Jews are "chosen" for obligations to God -- not for any special rewards. All the righteous of the nations have a share in the World-to-Come. There is no central belief on what awaits in the afterlife because no one has ever been there and returned to tell us.

Instead of "preaching" our message, we live our lives as an example. Anyone is welcome to join us if you're willing to accept certain obligations to God.

Conversion is not for everyone, but I guarantee you will love what you learn when you study Judaism! Start with these websites.

I don't think it's a matter of religion really. God chose to bless Abraham back in Genesis and promised that he would be a great people and a blessed nation. Abraham's decendants became the nation of Israel and I think that's how God first chose to work in the lives of humanity. God's promise to bless the nation of Israel or the Jews was fulfilled and is being ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ. To say they are His "favorite" religion well...I think God desires the relationship more than the ritual of religion. There are people from every religion, Jews and Christians included that are simply going through the motions. He desires for all peoples to know Him. The Jewish people are " God's chosen people" but it doesn't mean that he loves them more than He loves anyone else. Jesus came to save the Jewish people as well and God will not break his covanant with them. It says in Revelation 7:4-8, 144,000 Jews will have the seals of God written on their foreheads. He loves them as He always has. I'm not personally Jewish so I can't speak for the "we're not good enough for their religion" part. And like you, i don't understand all there is to what they believe or why they believe some of what they do. All i know is that God loves all people and wants us to know Him in a personal way. We were created with a need for God and He wants us to know Him. This may not have answered your qustion really sorry if it didn't!

That is a misnomer. You can, in fact, convert but you must be well educated in their doctrine and all 316 or so of their laws. You would probably have to change the way you eat among many other things. But you could theoretically do it. You should respect all religions because everyone has a right to have an opinion whether it is the same as yours or not. And they have a right to believe what they wish withou anyone judging them or belittling them for what they do not understand. The same would apply to your religion.

I have many Jewish friends and have spoke to a Rabbi. Yes, a person can convert to Judasim.

The Bible says the Jews are the chosen people and the Koran calls the Jews, the people of the book.

That is not true. Anyone is allowed to convert to Judaism. The only thing is we do not prosletize.
Correlating the idea that one's religion is correct therefore you should try to convince everyone else about that is a Christian missionary mentality and is foreign to Judaism. G-d does not require His people to convince others... only that they live by His commandments and thus serve as a "light unto nations".

That's not true. Today, anyone can become a Jew.

The Jews of old were very selfish people; they kept to themselves; they never forced anyone to join their faith...like Muslims did; all they wanted was a homeland as promised to them by their God.
Jesus was different; his message was to preach the gospel throughout the world. Today, many Jews have converted to Christianity.
I don't think that God has a favorite religion or people but we must remember that Judaism is the fore father of Christianity.

You have been misinformed. One can become a Jew, and I've seen some on here urging others to do so.

As far as the favorite religion thing, that isn't right either. They are not His "favorite", they are His chosen. Chosen for what? That's the question.

Jews aren't a religion. They are a people. God made a covenant with Israel (One of the 12 tribes is Yahuda). God called Israel His firstborn when He delivered them from the bondage of Egypt.

The coming Savior & Messiah is prophesied throughout the Old Testament.

Jesus fulfilled the prophets, the laws, the Holy Days for they prophecied of Him. So Jesus has a new covenant open for everyone else to become part of & be restored to God. He is the High Priest of the New Covenant forever after the Order of Melchezedec who blessed Father Abraham. Melchezedec was a High King & High Priest of unknown descent.

Actually they do, at least one of the different religions of Judaism. They are as fragmented as Christians are. But, since they are no longer God's People, as evidenced by the fact that the great curtain on the temple tore open to expose for all to see that God's Spirit no longer resided there, why would you want to? Christians became God's People, or New Israelites. Just as was prophesied, they began falling away, even while the Apostles were still around.
