How exactly does a belief, not to believe, kill 170 million?

2006-10-12 08:25:07 · answer #1 · answered by wilchy 4 · 0 0

Sure that's my point.

I answer the question about people being killed by Christians at least 10 times every day, it gets old, this is just the flip side, it did generate much interest, thank you all!

I am not judging Atheists, or at least I was not trying to, but it is odd to see the strong reaction to the question that we Christians get hit with over and over and over.

So, Sorry if I offended anyone, but the point is made, there have been bad people throughout time, some even in Religion.

Christians are not perfect, we all sin, we just try to do better all the time.

Using this as a reason to not believe is no more valid that using the 170 Million number to not believe.

Search for your own truth, with an open mind.

Muddied is a nice word for it. I understood his point that he was showing that Christians aren't perfect. And I replied to that point. I still want to know where he got that # from though. It seems just as far-fetched as the Fluffy Pagans stating that the Inquisition (the Burning Times) killed over 9 million Women. Anyone who actually looks into it would know that they highest # you could even sum up, and that takes some guesswork on places that didn't record such killings, is about 100,000.

Jim, I was flabbergasted at the answers.

Does nobody know the history of communist regimes in the 20th century? The only places where militant atheists ever held power? Who can even count the bodies? There were railroads built across central Asia where the ballast was the bodies of the prisoners who starved and froze while building them. These people need to read Solzhenitsyn and the Killing Fields.

Such unbelievable ignorance...

Here's more of what I wrote there:

So how exactly does this work: atheists are unwilling to see *any* connection between the acts of a militant atheist regime and the fact that it is atheist, yet they blame *all Christians* for the acts of Christian rulers and prelates? WTF?

Here's the deal: there *is* a connection between Christian theology and Christian brutality. There is *also* a connection between atheism and atheist brutality. Nietzsche said it: when God is dead, everything is permissible. Man, he *saw* the implications of atheism and it drove him ******* crazy! So did Camus. Any atheist who hasn't faced up to this is worthless, in my estimation.

I get his point. How many times do we see a post with the cliche "With all the wars caused by religion......" ?

The point is that wars have been started under the pretext of nearly every religion, social order, race, national pride, etc. Bad people start wars, not ideas, whether Theistic or Atheistic

I agree, no one is perfect. What's perfect? To him and his beliefs, I'm sure I'm not perfect. That's impossible, that's why it's easy for them to condemn anyone who doesn't follow their way.
I'm assuming he's Christian, I may be wrong.
