Toyota Highlander would be a MUCH better choice in terms of safety, reliabilibty, gas milage, and resale value.

Jeep Liberty's are a great choice. Also Ford Escapes are good. Another great option would be a Dodge Caravan. They come with stow-n-go seats now which are wonderful when you have kids. The seats fold into the floor easily so you have room for a stroller, groceries, or whatever else you might bring along. That would also be a great option if you are planning on having more children. Some also come with tvs which are great for long car trips and minivans use less gas than suvs.

SUV (I loved the Dodge Durango w the flip down DVD) or if you prefer a car I'm now driving a Chrysler 300 which has lots of space for the car seat and high ceilings which are essential for placing the child in and out of the car seat. It also has a huge trunk for large stroller and groceries. The Hummer is great too.

Get a station wagon. You could get a Ford Taurus, a Chevy Caprice, or a Toyota. We prefer a station wagon over a mini van.

Definately has to have 4 doors. I had a 2 door car initally and that was a pain to get the carrier in and out of.

You should check out consumer reports on both of those models and check out their crash test safety ratings.

Best of luck!
