i was injured on the job 8 months ago. while recovering i relocated 3000 miles away. the new dr released me to light duty and a few days later my employer called telling me i had to report to work the next am - i explained i was unable to show up the very next morning, so they said i had to resign immediately via fax or email. i called wed asking for details of my light duty release and they said i was unable to accomodate them and therefore i am no longer employed. is this legal?

yes, as you did not stick to your contract requirements. Always read your employment agreement. Travelling 3000 miles away, while injured does not sound right? How did you manage the trip? So it leaves a lot of questions and you will lose in the Labour court.
