I grounded her for 2 months and told her she can't hang out with her older friends till she is 10. Is this ok?

Ok no I am not kidding. She obviously didnt buy it. I've been catching her hanging out with 14 and 15 year olds. Shes been punished before for hanging out with them.

WHOAAHHHHH!!! First, where did she GET the opium? If she is running around with older friends who have access to opium, it is NEVER ok for her to hang out with them, 10 or no!

Second, it is very appropriate to ground a child for this behavior. But use the time constructively. Get closer to her. Find out how she fell in with evil companions. Find out what motivates her. Find out what OTHER (hopefully positive and constructive) activities she could be focusing on. And most importantly, find out if there are other destructive behaviors she is engaging in.

Because the time to fix this is NOW. If she smoked opium to get your attention, GIVE IT TO HER. And help her redirect her life. You are the number one most important factor in her life right now. She is a child. Her future is up to you.

72 year old, peeking through binoculars? What kind of neighbor is that? That goes above and beyond the normal, "community watch program" don't ya think. At 72 years old, who knows if that is even what she saw!! How exactly did an 8 year old even GET weed?! From his friend? His friends parents? Your Sister? No one SOLD an 8 year old weed! Plus kids who smoke weed USUALLY aren't HONOR students either! ESPECIALLY AT 8! Their brain would be fried and wouldn't do to well in school (especially if it was a problem). HELLO! The only thing you can do is have your sister REGULATE his every move! He's 8 years old... No more t.v., no more video games, no more walking to school (if possible), no more friends over, and no more excuses... Personally I question the neighbors "sighting" all together, unless evidence would suggest other wise.

What? Your 8 year old is smoking opium? I would lock her in her room until she is 18

8-year-olds should be playing with dolls still!!! Why in the world are you letting her hang out with friends like that? Seems to me she needs a little more supervision!

if you are not kidding take this very serious.
But here is my adivise.

It's your choice to ground her, but you shouldn't bring up the age.. here the kid learns that when she get's older she might abel to smoke an opium. Though you didn't meant it, it sets in her subconsiousness.. She'll have in her mind that it's okay to do it after she grows older...

Hope this helps.

get that kid under control and do not allow her to hang out with older kids, if she does you will eventually lose all control over her

Duh huh, 2 months, I would ground her until she reaches 21. And hanging out with friends is not a good idea if this is how she is when she is with her friends. It won't be long and you will probably be a grandmother.

If she has the money for opium, you need to cut her allowance.
