The IRA was not an army as such. It was an organisation hell bent on getting its own way irrespective of who died in the process. I was in Birmingham when the pub bombs went off. These bombs were not aimed at military or politicians and not people of a certain race or religion. It was just plain murder of innocent people. It did not scare us but heightened the resolve to carry on as normal. What did the IRA achieve? Nothing. The aim was to create a united Ireland. This has not been achieved despite all the murders and maiming and it is not likely to happen. So has was this a good plan? The IRA did not have guts. It does not take guts to plant a bomb in a public house where innocent people were out to enjoy themselves. That is not guts it is cowardice. You cannot describe all muslims as scum. It is that sort of language which creates resentment and division. There is good and bad in all races and religions. A lot of muslims were born here and you cannot just get them out as you put it no matter what tactics you use. You say that most British people lack guts. Ask the people who served in two World Wars about guts. Whatever you think or feel the muslims are here to stay and creating a gang of murderous extremists will not change that.

First, you're an illiterate, racist thug of some sort, so I'll have to keep this short. The fact that you seem to have been a squaddie here in NI confirms that fact largely. your idea that the IRA would 'come back here' and 'get' 'the muslims' is ludicrous. The IRA have disbanded, downed arms and entered reasonable political talks to achieve their aims - which is more than Britain has mangaed to do in a hundred years.
If the British had an army like the IRA, they'd pretty much have to be Nazis, following your description. you wouldn't like that.

Guts in killing many innocent people???? I hope the IRA will never be back on the streets of Northern Ireland again. If it hadn't been for the British Army God only knows what state our country would be in.

the british could not have an army like the IRA, because there are that many
different nationalites you would finish up with tribal wars. The british problem
is their past ,all those colonies granting citisenship to some locals to
control the majority, and since the empire has gone the citisens have come home.As for those who have being over there(Ireland)it wasnt the Ira that did all the killing(i live here) and the british threatment of muslims (arabs)down through the years wasnt what you would call freindly

IRA...would it be the BRA?
That would be an odd acronym to have to a group. I don't think people would take them serious.
However (minus the name) it would be similar to French Canadians I suppose. They do a lot of hunting with guns, lots of accidents. I would assume it would be close to that. I just can’t see one of the politest societies having a group like that, with the set up of Britain (I am an American) they could end such a group far quicker with the government.
However here in the 1970s there were similar groups here in the states. That was the 1970s though. I think Britain is safe.

They did have their own versions, the uvf and the uda murdered over 1000 innocent irish people while colluding with the British army. Google Johnny Adair for yourself, one of their most infamous serial killers.

What is this? - Having been there myself during the troubles and seeing what this kind of talk does to people my only true answer is to get used to it and learn to move on with the world. You are a sad individual if you think that this kind of thing is going to solve any of the problems we have today. - Very recent history has shown that the IRA has itself moved on to a different kind of campaign.

We had the FWA in Wales (Free Wales Army).
They kept all those English owned cottages warm!! -remember?
The people of this country (UK) are so lethargic they would have trouble organising a BBQ let alone a paramilitary movement, and our rulers know this, that is why they can do what ever suits them and scold us like naughty children when we voice our concerns about the way the country is run.

The IRA were not a "proper" govenment run - army they were just a bunch of guerillas.
As for "ordering" action against the "British" government they murdered a hell of a lot of innocent civillians whose only crime was being British. Despicable. We don't want that sort of thing on these shores.
