I have my hair cut to my shoulders it is blonde and I wanted something a little different. I was thinking about getting the very tips on my ends died dark brown or black. I know it is hard to explain but some of the styles now have darker underneath and like halfway down, I was just wondering if this could look professional at all?

I am a stylist and I'm here to help you;.

All kinds of colored styles will fit in in a professional environment. The only thing that will effect the "feel" of your color style, is your attitude. If you are a personality type that is bold and outgoing then the tipping sounds right up your alley. I am a colorist of 10 years and a stylist of 16 and my clientele are age 16-45 and I love seeing them step out and try new color and styles. The hardest part is getting them to take that first step. The tipping dark ends looks great on flipped out ends with a sassy style. And as long as you are professional it will work in your professional environment. Embrace the change and go for the color, you will never regret trying something new and fun.

Let me tell you a quick story. Once upon a time, I had almost shoulder-length brown hair. On a whim I decided to go blonde. So I did. I never touched up the color. Eventually I had brown roots almost to shoulder-length. Then I came up with a wonderfully crazy idea. I cut off all but an inch of the blonde. Then I dyed my entire head fire engine red. Obviously, the ends that were once blonde were then very, very red. This entire time, I'd worked for a nationally known insurance company (still do). While this company is quite conservative, I managed to fit in just fine - wild hair and all. Even my supervisors liked the new 'do.

The moral of the story: you'd be surprised what kind of hair color and style can fit into a professional environment. I say go for it!

I don't think it looks very professional (especially if you try to wear it up). However, you could cut your bangs short and then color just the bottom part of your bangs. If you still want to do it for all your hair, don't go with black but a hue that's a bit darker than your current one. That way the difference won't be as harsh.

i know exactly what look youre going for. Do I like ?
It's a mixed bag for me, for some girls, i laugh a little and comment on how trailer park that is, it depends on the girl, no offense, its a cute style but not everyone can pull it off, on the other hand, i've seen a couple of girls and they look pretty cute.

lol i call it the "christina Aguleria look"
as for it being professional, no its not a typical "office look" however where you work ,maybe a bit relaxed about their policy and have lots of younger people there so you may fit in just fine.

I like that look alot with the black tips on the ends or underneath the layer of hair. If it is something you like go for it- and yes it can look professional.

I personally do not think that this style looks professional, but if you carry yourself in a professional manner and dress nice, then you can probably pull off about any hairstyle within reason. Try it with temporary dye and see what you think first!

Good luck and God Bless!

as long as its not too much of a contrast. i saw a girl at target who had the under half done in black and top half blonde. i just laughed at how stupid she looked. she even had the nerve to wear it up in a ponytail to show it off, lmao

I really like that look, but my friends and I commonly refer to it as s-l-u-t hair...so I guess I don't think that it would be progessional. (not being rude, just giving an honest answer)
