Be care to whom you listen. It is not caused by chocolate candy or tomato's or anything you eat. Washing our face a hundred times a day just dries out your skin. It is caused by heredity
and a bacteria, known as Propionibacterium acnes, is a normal inhabitant of the skin. It uses sebum as a nutrient for growth, therefore increases in follicles during puberty. People with acne have more Propionibacterium acnes in their follicles than people without acne. The presence of bacteria attracts white blood cells to the follicle. These white blood cells produce an enzyme that damages the wall of the follicle, allowing the contents of the follicle to enter the dermis. This process causes an inflammatory response seen as papules (red bumps), pustules, and nodules. The bacteria also cause the formation of free fatty acids, which are irritants, increasing the inflammatory process in the follicle.
The washes you see really do little if anything but you can try Accutane (keeping in mind there have been problems with it-mental problems and suicide).
Antibiotics work by several mechanisms. The most important is the decrease in the number of bacteria in and around the follicle. Antibiotics also work by reducing the irritating chemicals produced by white blood cells.
Finally, antibiotics reduce the concentration of free fatty acids in the sebum, also reducing the inflammatory response. The most frequently used antibiotics for acne are : Tetracycline, Erythromycin, Minocycline, Doxycycline and Clindamycin.
The only other thing "I" would recommend is Retin-A and it is not going to do what you want it to do. However, trust me when I say these washes do and can not work!
The best thing you could do is see a dermatologist. God bless you and the Southern People.

I had bad acne as a teenager and was on Retin-A for a few years. Then, as an adult, I got my acne back when I got pregnant with my first daughter. I, like everyone else with acne, tried everything on the market to get a handle of the problem and I finally found Proactiv and it really does work! I don't mean to sound like an infomercial or anything, but it really did clear me up and I swear that people ask about my skincare all the time. At first I used the three step program twice a day and now I just use it once for maintenance. If I see a blemish coming, I use the mask and spot treatment and the blemish is gone!!!

The best way to get rid of acne is by getting on a good skin care program and getting you breakouts under control. I have been to the dermitologist and have tried many of the over the counter medicines and the best that I have found is with JAFRA. They have 4 different cleansers to match you skin type and an acne line to help with the break outs. The web address is www.myjafra.com/ssletvold. If you are a teen they also have a teen line that my niece has been on and it has worked wonders on her face.
Good Luck and email me if you have any more questions

I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!
Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:
1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.
There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

Gently wash your face 3 or 4 times a day to prevent the oil from clogging the pores as easily, but don't scrub or it will cause it to get worse. Either use no soap 2 or 3 times out of the 3 or 4 times you wash, or use a very mild soap.
Get some sun on your face as often as you can during the week (don't overexpose and get sunburned, or that could flare it up as well)
Drink lots of water and eat more fruits and vegetables, and eat fewer fried fatty foods and refined carbs. like white bread, sugar and pasta. (Chocolate and other foods don't cause acne as some say, but a good diet will help your skin become healthier and fight acne.)
It's OK to use benzoil peroxide, or some of the other facial creams once a day, but don't overdo it, or you'll kill the top layer of your skin, making the acne worse. Lots of people do that unintentionally.
Good luck and God Bless!

take the best care of your skin that you possibly can. drink tons of water and eat right and find a face wash that really works for your skin type. wash your face twice a day (morning and night) and do your best not to touch your face too much or pick at any existing acne. if you do all that and dont start seeing results after a month or so there may be a bigger problem here and your doctor should be able to give you more advice. good luck!

The best way is to steam your face.. This works great for me and I recommend it for everyone... At first it will be really hot and you won't be able to take it but after awhile it works great.... Feels clean and non oily. What you do is heat some water for about 3minutes and then afterwards remove the pan of hot water from the stove. Set it on a small towel so it doesn't burn the surface. Then get a towl and while your facing the pan place the towel over you and the hot pan so the steam doesn't get out.... It work great.. Good luck.

Get soaps that are made for acne and oily skin. They usually work pretty well. Be careful though because the soap can dry out your skin. (It's suppose to dry out the acne though.)
