The Government takes off many secular holidays, and just one Religious Holiday. MLK day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving, New Year Etc. If you are concerned about the money the government is spending I would address these holidays first.

I have also never worked in a company that did not give it employees paid leave for the religous holidays. (Assuming they were of a recognized relegion)

Ya know, I work for the GOVT. Most people that want to observe religious holidays have to use their accrued vacation/sick time to take time off.

Easter is on Sundays...not a paid holiday. Xmas...well, its not Christian (its just Christianity robbing pagans of the winter solstice celebration, and it has devolved into a capitalitic free for all designed to get you to spend all the money youve saved over the past year.) All other holidays that are paid is crap like MLK Jr. Day, Columbus Day, Labor Day, Presidents Day, etc.

First, easter is always on a sunday. Which government agencies are working sundays? Second, a holiday is a holiday. Who cares why it started, it's a day to blow off steam. If it wasn't christmas, it'd be International Talk Like a Pirate Day (Sept. 19).

Luckily, Christmas has become a very secularized holiday. That means that I, as an atheist, have no compunctions about taking that time off to spend with my family. You are right about the other religions getting time off. A lot of schools and jobs will allow followers to substitute time off on different days. In other words, if you want to work Christmas, you can have off another holiday. As for Jews in particular, in government at least they get plenty of time off. I used to work for the Clerk of Circuit Court. The judges and attorneys got about an extra 3 weeks off for various Jewish holidays.

Christian Holidays like Christmas and Easter is a source of much money for the Government and businessmen alike.
If you would ban Christmas there will be a deadly drop in the economy.

Because like it or not, this country was founded by Christians and those values remain. If it has been founded by any of the other religious groups you listed, we would be celebrating those holidays instead. If you don't like it, report to work on all major holidays like normal.

most of america believes in god like it or not deal with it

our political leaders believe in god too

sounds like you need a new country...

we dont make all the rules...
the government is giving enough to give you the freedom to choose your religion you should be happy with that

i honestly feel bad for some of the people in muslim countries who are killed if they are not muslim--i think theey should have the right to choose--never should they be persecuted

you really should be grateful for what you have here in america

in some countries the government would kill you for posing such a stance

thank god for america
