Really some of you guys. Do you know how to read?? Have you ever read the Book of Mormon, or do you dismiss it because you're not allowed to think independently???

I wanted to address the girl who shot down the missionaries. If you think about it, those boys are only 19 and are well versed, however, they need advice sometimes from a stronger member. Just because the missionaries cannot answer a question, it does not mean they are ignorant or hiding something, they are simply young and need advising from an older, more knowledgeable member.

I'm not Mormon or of any other religion. I'm a HUMAN BEING with a NAME. My family love me for me, and they will never abandon me if I make a mistake or make changes in my life. I do not search for "benefits" in others as I will treat EVERYONE on earth with respect and dignity.
Thanks for the invite, but not interested in joining.

This maybe to far down for you to read, but, I will post it. I grew up in a Mormon household, so, naturally, when I was ready for a spiritual life, I looked into it and others. I found things that were extremely inconsistent with the bible. Is there any other God besides the 1 true God? no. But, your books spell it out a little different. Can someone else get someone saved or save someone. No. they have to make a choice. Your practices are different. I won't go into having your own planet, wearing underwear, reversed declarations by God (changed His mind?) as revealed by your leaders, temple rites and indoctrination.... it is too much conflict with the original Word. Plus, one thing that is scary, is that LDS church is the wealthiest group in the world. Have you read the book about the travels of J.Johnson, mormon pioneer? They lived quite differently than you do know.

You never going to get a rational answer from slamers.
Most people just easily deceived without really investigation.
I just finish a few anti mormon books, and all I find is intentional twisting of LDS teachings by so call experts on Mormonism,
they are out to degrade lDS doctrine, and their leaders.
Remember christ said"
26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
27 My asheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
(New Testament | John 10:26 - 27)
Those that are wise will listen, and understand that LDS is the true church, no matter how the others distort the truth.

I like Nora22000 and Sandy G's answers. They actually answered your question according to their beliefs.
There are so many misunderstandings and asumptions people have about the Church.
Someone mentioned that we do believe/practice polygamy. We (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) do not. However there are other sects out there who have splintered off from the church who do still practice polygamy.
And someone else stated that we do not believe that Christ is our Savior. We absolutely believe Christ is our Savior. He is the only way to get to Heaven.
MishMash, email me. What are your questions that the missionaries wouldn't answer? I remember reading from a question you posted last week that you were going to meet with them, but had no interest in joining. That's fine with me. I would just like to give you my take on the answers to your questions. I don't pretend to have all the answers to Mormon type questions, but I'll give you my honest opinion. Just add @yahoo.com to my id.

Well, there's one thing that puts the Mormon and Jehovah witnesses in the same group with me. The door-to-door soul savers. I understand that they are trying to do a good thing by coming to my house and saving my soul, but you have to understand. When I'm home, I want to relax and get away from the world. These people seem like an invasion of my privacy. That sets a bad tone for the rest of the Mormon faith.
If Mormons are willing to track me down and guilt me at my own house, then what are they willing to do once I go to their church?
One other thing. Isn't being Christian enough? Why does it have to be Mormon? Isn't the fact that I'm saved enough? Why do I have to be saved in a Mormon church? That's why set me at a distance with Mormon faith.
One other thing I've noticed. I've only seen white Mormon coming to my door, where are all the other races?

Because it truly is a cult in the genuine definition of the word. Have you read the history of this religion??? Its a false religion based on one man, and he was a known liar. Just because a religious group has nice family values, does not make the doctrine of that religion sound. I have studied this religion, and compared it to what I know to be scripturally true, and it is a false gospel, and I feel sorry for those who get sucked into it. I have an eternal family, I get it from GOD and Jesus as my saviour. You only hope to have it, by blindly following the cult of Mormonism. Study and learn for yourself, before its too late. But of course they have set it up , so that if you disagree with them, you basically have to be disowned by your family. What does that tell you?? THey WONT LET YOU LEAVE!!!

Because Jesus enjoyed a little wine and so do I.
But seriously, God and I have a really good relationship already so I don't feel the need to make any major lifestyle changes.
However, if the Book of Mormon is working for you, then more power to you! ;)

I have missionaries asking me the exact same question. I met with them on Monday. Funny thing about them, they said that I asked good questions, but they never answered them. They simply told me to ask God and pray. I am hesitant to join a church whose followers don't even know why they do, say and believe the things they do, say and believe.
EDIT: I was at the local stake President's house. He is my boss. They had all the help they needed...

I don't care about the polygamy. If a woman is dumb enough to marry a man with three other wives, then let her. That aside, Joseph Smith simply sounded like a moron. Magically translating golden plates by the divine Urim and Thummim. Who makes up words like that. The teachings in the religion tend towards racism too.
“...wherefore, as they were white, and exceeding fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a SKIN OF BLACKNESS to come upon them.”
(Book of Mormon, page 61, 2 Nephi 5, verse 21)
but if you repent:
“...and many generations shall not pass away among them, save they shall be a WHITE AND DELIGHTSOME PEOPLE.”
(Book of Mormon, page 102, 2 Nephi 30, verse 6.

- The Book of Mormon includes the Bible, however, the added doctrine to the Bible by Mormons must be false because it does not fall in line with Biblical doctrine.
- The history of Mormonism is also extremely disturbing and also doesn't line up with Biblical doctrine.
One of my best friends growing up was Mormon, I participated in some of their activities, so I am very familiar with Mormon practices. And yes, some groups of Mormons do practice polygamy
