Some claim that proof of God is in the Bible, they cite verses that say someone talked to God. Could a man or a woman write that, in a book, that they talked to God, does writing that in a book mean it happened?

What about other books where people claim they talked to God, or an Angel representing God. I happen to have a Qur'an at home and know that the Prophet Muhummad is believed to have talked to an Angel representing God.

Is the fact that someone says they talked to God or an Angel, does that make it so?

(Um, heh Beavis, no it doesn't make it so)

No it is not so. That is not a basis for valid argument. There is just as much evidence of creation as the big bang theory. Even without relying on the bible.

obviously you are not genuinely asking a question, but making a statement

if you seriously look for information and answers, why don't you do a bit of online research about how Darwin's theories have been accepted or in cases changed over the years

Darwin never had a theory about how life was created, his ttheory was about the changes in species and their evolution

if you really want to be somebody with an independent opinion and some clrity about your thoughts, you should also research the recent developments about the creation of the universe and the socalled big bang theories

what we learned in school and what you read in popular news etc is not always latest scientific research

fact is that the universe was created in an event - no science yet has been able to explain who and why .....

the more we know about the micro and macro cosmos the more we realise that life as we know it and the universe as we can analyse today, has an extremely narrow margin of viability.

Almost as if "Somebody" has put a lot of thought into the parameters sustaining life and creation

check it for yourself first before you settle on an opinion

may be it was God .... there is enough direct and circumstantial evidence, enough for a "faith" conviction, there is so far no plausible or sustainable theory and explanation for the creation of the universe and life,

well, may be the billions of perople who belive in God are right .....

God bless you

You are correct in saying when one claims to talk to God it does not make it so.
Here's what does. The Old test makes many prophesies which have come true. This is very significant.
Also the bible is a historical book of antiquity and has over 5000 categorized documents showing it is the same as years ago, many in different languages.
So when one sees the bible as; accurate (history) prophetic (all have come to pass except the end) one tends to stand up and take notice what it says as truth.
My suggestion to you, read the new test for yourself. I dare you

The problem is that this book has been written, rewritten and edited so much in the past 2000 years that there is no way that it is the original text. With so many interpretations of it out there, as well as the interpretations of the verses themselves, how are we to know what is supposedly true and what is false?

I think the book (which ever one it is) presents information. Then the reader must think about it, ponder it, and come to a decision if they believe it, then ask God if their answer is right. Of course for some, they need to decide if God exists first, before they can ask Him. But that's a different question.

66 books written over thousands of years that all agree with each other to the most minute detail. God used the WORD to speak to us but that is not the only way. he speaks to us in nature as well. there is evidence of Him all around. Why not give Him a chance to reveal himself to you. Toss that Qu'ran and start reading the Bible. You might find you've been wrong all along.

I hope not, because a lot of other people claim to have spoken with doG...my brother -in-law has had many personal conversations with the Holy Father in which the HF passes along tips on how my sister can better care for the needs of her husband...
Not to mention people who kill their children, or burn their parents up or that guy last week on Y/A, who had been told to burn his neighbor's shed down...

We believe it's so, so that makes it easier to swallow on the surface. Now that guy Hank who hangs out at the Wataburger on 10th who said he talks to God all the time... probably not gonna buy it.

The people who are thumbs-downing your question (and my answer) would have undoubtedly considered Abraham a nut case for claiming that "God" told him to cut his son's throat, which would be an almost accidental stroke of sanity in this case; there are numerous criminal cases where uber-religious sorts have claimed that "God" instructed them to kill family members or total strangers, or to disfigure themselves ("if thy hand offend thee, cut it off"...)

What was the name of that guy who fooled Oprah and the rest of her book club?

You now have my response.....writing it in a book doesnt make it true. Didnt make that guy a male hooker addicted to drugs, so it wouldnt make God real either.
