Every day I see people making turns, changing lanes, and otherwise illegally moving their vehicle without first signaling. What has caused this epidemic?

I think it mostly has to do with distraction.

I haven't had a driving test since 1992, but even I know the basic rules of signalling. It drives me insane!

But with the onslaught of cell-phones, loud stereos, and the like, people are less attuned to safety, and more attentive to their obnoxious toys.

1. HANG UP AND DRIVE! Or, at least, PULL OVER!

2. Turn down the radio! How the heck can you hear an emergency vehicle?

3. Restrain your damn kids. I swear, all of these obnoxious little twerps that people let bounce around in their car drives me insane! Do you know what a three year olds head looks like once it has been through a windshield???

With those few things taken into consideration, you just MIGHT remember to signal!

Thanks for letting me rant! Thumbs up!

I cannot stand when people switch lanes or turn without turning on their signal lights!!! I turn mine on even if it appears that no one is near behind me, 'cause there may be that maniatic driver speeding down the highway who wont know I'm switching lanes, and I wont see him in time behind me, and we may hit...

Lately though.. My left signal has been acting hyper, and I feel like a jerk when I use it to get in front of someone, so.. I haven't been using it.. I don't know what's more offensive.. A guy with hyper blinkers (usually assoiciated with speed racers), or just going in the lane..? I feel like a FOB when I make left turns. I don't use it for those either....

Well... It's been acting normal, so I have been using it again... But when it was hyper, I didn't. Maybe those people are just having blinker problems like me?

I also hate when people signal too early or too late, or leave their blinker on... When people switch 3 lanes, and leave it on the whole time is annoying, 'cause I can't tell if they are switching to the next lane again, or if they are just one of those who forgets to turn it off.

You should never trust a turn signal but always wait to see what the person is really going to do. A lot of people are totally unaware of their own or others' personal safety, especially if distracted by a cellphone conversation while driving. I almost got hit by someone yesterday who had her turn signal on, but didn't turn. Your safety comes first. Don't try to second-guess someone else's intentions. Lack of enforcement, lack of personal awareness and lack of consideration for others are the reasons.

Drivers in my city are notorious for not using their signals and disobeying the law. They are either too lazy or they believe it's their right to drive the way they want and don't care about others. Goodness help you if you're a pedestrian here, nobody stops for people wanting to cross the street, even at crosswalks!

Laziness...or the fact it only takes a few seconds to move in the next lane. Or even them not noticing someone behind them and not seeing a reason.

One hand on the wheel and one on the cell phone, none left to signal. And why are they always in the fast lane?

They probably are on there cell phones. Signaling is a good habit which I wish nobody forgot. Most people that don't signal don't give a crap about anyone else except themselves.

Then you get the person who drives 3 miles with their signal on.

Followers take this as a signal to speed up so you cannot move over.

People have become lazy, which in turn has become habit. Even Law Enforcement is guilty.
