I've found it easier to talk about trying something different during "down" time: at breakfast the next morning, for example. I'd say something like, "I love it when you [some specific lovemaking technique you recently tried], and I really like the idea of adding [whatever new trick you want to add]. How about we try that next time?"

Then again, my boyfriend has gotten me to try all sorts of things I never knew I'd like by simply saying, "When I think about you [doing whatever he wants me to try], it makes me hard just thinking about it. Can you try that, just for me?" Often he asks when I'm so caught up in the moment that I can't say no.

One other idea: if you talk on the phone a lot, try giving explicit instructions for the next time you're together. That's been a big turn-on for me: one time, he told me to wear a long skirt and loose blouse with no undergarments to work and he showed up unexpectedly and we had sex in the lunchroom. Since then, I always follow his "instructions" no matter how strange they sound because I always know it'll be great.
