Biblical scholar Dr. Hugh Schoenfeld maintains that Jesus gave himself a drug that would put him in a catatonic state. After he was presumed dead, he would be removed from the cross. Then he would "come back to life" and claim to be the Messiah. But Jesus got unlucky and was speared by a guard. The book is entitledThe Passover Plot.

I beleive this is so. The drug could have been belladonna - a known drug in His times. This is the same drug that Haitians give to people to make them zombies....what are zombies? People that have died and....come back to life!

Furthermore, the spear to his chest was not a mortal wound. Also, if one cares to check themselves, read the passages describing what herbs Joseph brings into the tomb for Jesus prior to his ressurection....you will note that these herbs are herbs traditionally associated with HEALING and not with EMBALMING THE DEAD. Now, why would you bring herbs of healing to a guy you beleive is dead? Unless, of course, you knew he wasnt dead....

Crucifixion was a form of capitol punishment!and just like they make sure criminals are dead today in or times they made sure criminals were dead in Christs time too and they made sure he was dead before they took him off the cross they normally broke the persons legs (to keep them from pushing up with their feet to take a breath) but when they got to Jesus they saw he was already dead and instead of breaking his legs they speared his side (fulfilling the prophesy that said that none of his bones would be broken Psalms 34:20) I guess that you would also claim that Jesus faked his scourging that was prophesied by Isaiah in Isaiah 50:6 I suppose that you would also believe that he paid the soldiers to cast lots for his clothes to fulfill the prophesy in Psalms 22:18 I could go on and on about things that Jesus fulfilled in his life time that could only be done if he were indeed the Messiah but I am sure you got the point by now.

How would he fake the beating that he took? How would he fake the nails in his hands and feet? And the spear? If a drug was used it didn't stop these things from happening. Also the way they were hung on the cross would kill them before a drug like that would take affect. Because of the beating and internal bleeding those who were crucified usually died by drowning in their own blood. Saging on the cross made it impossible to breath. They could push up with there feet, but the pain indured would be to much to keep themselves alive. They also broke the legs of victims if it was taking to long. Because of the Passover they wanted to hurry and confirm Christ death, that what brought the spear in. Science has proven that based on the description given of the spear wound that it went into the heart, piercing the outer layer of liquid that came out with the blood. I don't think you could live through that. Even if you did, would you expect anyone to be walking around in three days? And inviting Thomas to put his finger in your wound?

Then we get to the whole issue of how the apostles reacted. Remember Peter denied knowing Christ and later went into hiding for fear of percicution. After the resurrection that changed. They boldly displayed their faith even though they met with death because of it. Who would do this for a mere man that faked his death, nobody. But, they would for their risen Lord. Jesus would not have been able to pull something like that off physically, but even if he did he would need help. Would you help and then die confessing that he was resurrected?

Christ died on the cross, was buried and rose again on the third day and was witnessed by hundreds of people.

no he didn't fake his own death on the cross, he was praticly beaten to death by the roman soliderss before the crucifixion and the nails were put throughs his hands or wrists were spikes, and he was stapped in the side by a spear while on the cross at the time he gave up his life. with his blood loss his death on the cross was real. the romans beat him with a catof nine tails whip it had bones and rocks in ti. too. God the father upon reserection had to completely remake his body and heal him when he did and gave him immortality and the glories he gave up when he came down, after it.

How many times are you going to quote from the obscure writer that is pretending to be a "Biblical Scholar"?

He is an author that wanted to sell books.

That is all.

Find the real truth, it is in the New Testament.

Peace!

It's possible. We think we know so much, but we don't. How do we know the details of Jesus' plan? It is a solid possibility. I enjoy reading about these things, very interesting...
