By creating an acidic environment in the mouth, you make it more hospitable to the bacteria that cause tooth decay.

Decay spreads more rapidly in an acidic environment because the acid demineralizes tooth enamel. The good news is fluoride helps it re-mineralize

A good rule of thumb is more sour means more acid. Don't cut fruit out of your diet. Just limit the amount of time that acid is exposed to your teeth. Brush your teeth afterwards, or at least rinse with water.

Because acid is attacking the enamel of your teeth. But don't give up fruits. Just avoid to brush your teeth straight after having any acidy food. Drink some water instead, it will dilute the acid.
