I prefer to be friends first myself, i like to really know what the person is like because dating to me is a sort of comitment.

I know from my daughter that kids today start "going out" with one another when they've never met and/or have known each other for about five minutes.
We may be old, honey, but our adult experience says: don't commit all your time to one guy until 1) you've met him, 2) you've been to the movies and out to eat or go bowling or walking around the mall a few times, and 3) you know all about his friends and family.
