I didn't see a difference in my electricity bill. So I don't think you have to pay much.

A box

About as much as a TV set.

The power supplies are 300 Watts or better

That means 3 - 5 light bulbs

Probably using about 5 amps of current

It's not as much as a refrigerator (that's more like 15 - 20 amps of current)

You would be surprised how much it costs to run ONE 100 watt light bulb 24/7/30 days

It's like 2.2 Kilowatt hours per day

Whic is like 80 Killowatt hours per month

At my house

A refrigerator
A computer
a 60 watt light bulb

Comes out to $45 a month

That is my primary usage

I turn on bathroom and kitchen lights for about 2 hours a day max

I run a 60 watt bulb in my room the same as my computer
I run my computer 8 hours a day average
my rergerator is 24/7

Thats $45 a month

So imagine my regrierator is about $30 a month

And it's $15 a month for computer and light

So the computer is probably $10 a month

8 hours a day
7 days a week
30 days a month

That means the computer is about 33 cents a day or 5 cents an hour.

Roughly

If you leave a BOX on all day, it's about $500 a year.

It all depends on how you use it.

If you're running a high end server with an 800W power supply, 4 processors, 12 fans, 2 graphics cards, a 21" CRT monitor, and keep it on 24/7, 365 days a year then yes it'll take up lots of electricity.

If you just have an average small desktop computer with a 250W power supply, an energy-saving LCD flat panel monitor, and set it to sleep or shut it off when you aren't using it then it shouldn't take up much at all.

absolutely not.

The Monitor, printers and speakers consume some power but not the processor.

The parts being elctronic in nature works in millivolts and milliwatts.

If you run a system for 24 hrs/7 days,it would cost you $ 15 a month.

if you use a LCD monitor,it consumes less power than a CRT monitor

About 400 watts. Four 100 watt bulbs worth... so not a lot compared to kettles, hair driers, vacuum cleaners and heaters!

If you have a tube monitor, yes. For your desktop, the cooling fan is the only one that is running continously.
I suggest, enable automatic shutoff mode that is available in the Windows. I never turn off my PC ever. It probably cost more and adds more wear and tear if you constantly turn on PC on and off.

not that much really, but the new tft screans use 1/5 the power of older crt monitors though

What is a lot? Get a flat panel monitor and it will use even less.
