My faith is based in reality, that is the only difference. Religion is an antiquated way of thinking about things, and now is not, repeat NOT necessary to explain why things happen or to modify behavior of individuals.
It IS however, a good opiate to the masses, and it is what keeps the poor from eating the rich, so I am not all that anxious to see it go away entirely.

I'm an atheist because I see no evidence that there is a god, but I do see evidence for a "natural" world that includes the big bang and evolution. One view is testable and repeatable, has tons of evidence that supports it, and is logical and credible. The other has just 1 book to support it, and that book is inconsistent within itself.

Thanks for the understanding, there needs to be more people like you.
Organized religion in itself poses so many problems. Good can come from it, but historically it has been corrupt. I myself am an atheist because I see no logic in a higher being.

Primarily because there is no evidence to substantiate a belief in a supernatural "creator".
And people probably bash Athiests in about the same numbers as Athiests bashing others, so it probably balances out...

People bash because they don't understand. They may fear learning that their way is not the only way, and that can be scary for those who have lived their whole lives around something.

Athiests believe there is no God by faith, since they have no proof. A faith-based belief is a religion.
And since they can't prove their religion, that makes them all a bunch of hypocrites.

Because, on this sight, people do not like you to have an opinion, you must follow theirs, or you are a bad person. and to think, I thought America was about freedom of choice.
