First, the big question is whether or not your computer can run Windows XP or not, because a lot of the older computers that came with Windows 98 pre-installed just does not have either enough hard drive space, micro processing speed, RAM, or video graphics capability to run Windows XP.

However, you also need to consider the other software and devices that you are going to want to use, because they too are going to need hard drive space, RAM, and micro processing speed.

If your computer just barely has what it takes to be able to install Windows XP, then I would say save the money you would be spending on buying the upgrade and use it to buy a new computer.

If you do some shopping around you can buy a new notebook computer for as little as $500 with Windows XP pre-installed, and it's more than likely going to be faster than your Windows 98 computer.

If you don't want to get the full version of Windows XP, get the Windows XP Upgrade CD...I think you have to have Win98SE and not just Win98.
