I'm lactose intollerant and it's hard for me too...especially because I tried to go soy, but I learned that I'm allergic to soy too. It caused terrible gas pains. So If you get gas easily or if you have a poor digestive system, I wouldn't reccomend going soy either. If you go to a health food store there are tons of options for milks, and I know that all grocery stores have "Rice Dream" products. I use rice milk, and my family buys "Rice Dream" ice cream and they say it's REALLY good! There's also almond milk, and hazelnut milk at healthfood stores...

Go Soy! My son cannot drink cows milk and we have been on soy milk for 6 years. Luckily, he can eat dairy products because the enzyme he is intolerant to is destroyed in the processing of daily products. If you are truly lactose intolerant you can drink lactaid milk, and use lactose drops or tablets when you consume dairy products.

Ditto on the soy. There are a lot of soy substitutes for milk and milk products, and I understand that they're better quality now than when they were first invented.

Otherwise, get used to reading labels.

Good luck!

I am lactose intolerant and i carry lactase tablets wherever i go. I just eat 1-2 depending on how much dairy i consume, they are readly available in any supermarket. The tablets simply contain enzyme suppliments a regular person has to digest dairy, that imtolerant people do not.

if you are not willing to change your diet, give lactase tablets a try.
