In the USA, the Federal minimum wage is $5.15 per hour (but there are exemptions). Several states require higher minimum wages, so check with your state's Dept. of Labor.

It's what it has always been....A JOKE!
Nobody could live on it! I've always thought MINIMUM wage should be the MINIMUM that it would cost one person to LIVE on. No fancy cars, huge houses, expensive foods, eating out all the time, a cell phone for each person, the biggest tv package, etc., etc., but just ENOUGH to live: A decent roof over your head, the basic foods needed, heat, A/C, etc. But that's NOT what you get. Oh well.

There are three levels of minimum wage, and the rates from 1st October 2006 are:

£5.35 per hour for workers aged 22 years and older
A development rate of £4.45 per hour for
workers aged 18 - 21 years inclusive
3.30 per hour which applies to all workers under the age of 18 who are no longer of compulsory school age.

It depends on the state in which you live in . . . the best place to find out is at the department of Labor . . . there should be a website for almost every state . .. and worst come to worst you could always go to your town office and check. There should be posters posted in your work place as well.

depends on where you live. the minimum wage for washington is $7.63, but thats only because its more expensive to live here than in say, oklahoma, where it may be around $6. do some more research.
