There's a lot of debate right now about the issue of homework, and whether or not it is beneficial to students at all. Studies show that there is no correlation between homework and academic achievement for gradeschool students, little to none for middle school students, and some correlation for highschool students(although the two might not actually effect eachother).
Some think that homework should be abolished completely.
What are your thoughts?

Teresa- Thanks you for your opinion. However, here's something else to keep you thinking.
Most parents surveyed about the amount of homework given in the US have said that they think the homework load seems just about right.
Many of those who said otherwise think that there is too little homework given.
Also, is it possible that repetition can be done during class time, and studying can be assigned rather than homework?
Keep the comments coming.

Just_ine_- Another intriguing opinion. However, is the goal of homework merely to keep kids busy? If that's the case, it sould even be an arguement for the other side of this debate.

just_ine_- VERY good point! Here's something else that you've already hit on. Some kids are, as your son is, priveledged enough to have a strong family and a parent or two to keep them on task. These kids have dinner table discussions, etc., which allow them to expand their knowledge.
However, what about the underpriveledged students who don't have these opportunities?

azu612- That's an interesting perspective, and it certainly contrasts what the others have said. Would you like to expand on your point a bit? Why do you think the way you do?
