If you have a 2 yr degree as I do in law enforcement it does help to get into entry level jobs. Examples: A probation assistant, communications dispatcher, a records clerk, a police officer in training.
If your degree is a 4 yr degree then the field is open. Probation, parole, corrections, police officer, etc. Most of the positions would still be entry level but with higher starting pay.
Depending on what you want to do the field is open with education. The 2 or 4 yr degree helps get your foot in the door and planted firmly, more so than someone who doesn't have education in the field. If you are interested in forensics or investigations, you usually either have to get more education or work in the field and work up to advanced postions.
