I recently found a marble size lump under my right arm. It has severe pain when any thing touches it, I lift my arm up or put it all the way down against my side. The pain also goes into my right breast. Its a hard lump but very soft around the hard spot. Im only 20 and have never had any thing like this before. Does any one know what this could be?

It sounds like it's something within the lymph system, and possibly a cyst, but to be honest your age makes no difference, in fact some conditions are more common in younger people then in older ones.

The chances are that it's not really dangerous at the moment, but that doesn't mean you can just ignore it and hope it goes away -- because it could get worse and become something that can make you very ill. The others are right -- please see a medical professional as soon as possible. If it's nothing serious at least you'll get get treatment and advice about what to do if you ever get something like it again, but if it's serious it is very, very important to not delay.

I'll put it like this: My brother is a very good doctor, but he would tell you that not even the best physician in the world can do an effective diagnosis for you over the phone or over the internet like this. He'd say: "Come in immediately and let's check it out."

So go to a clinic or hospital today, okay? Even if you're not insured, go anyway. This is YOU we're talking about, not money, and you are worth more than all the money in the world! So get to a clinic now.

Please...

Lenky.

No one here can say this lump is "probably harmless" or not. It could require biopsy. I hope it's nothing more than a cyst or enlarged lymph node (hence the pain) but it warrants further evaluation. My professional advice to you is to make an appointment with your primary health care provider. State specifically why you need to be seen and you may get in sooner. You are most likely anxious and you need an answer but please direct any future questions to your provider.

A doctor is the only one who can diagnosis this lump correctly. It could be something minor like folliculitis, cyst, swollen lymph node, etc but it needs to be taken care of. Call your doc and make an appointment.

Go to your family doctor and get it checked out. It might be just a cyst or a swollen gland, but it could also be more serious.

It could be an ingrowing hair folicle that needs treatment. See a doctor to get it sorted out.

it could be a cyst or tumor but not necessarily cancerous so go to your doctor and get it checked out.
