The best things I have had over 18 yrs of dealing with lice is:

"Robi Comb"... it is a Electronic Lice-Comb that Detects and Kills lice... Chemical Free. uses 1 AA battery

and

LiceMeister comb ...it is not just another lousy nit comb... this comb is boilable. reusable. stainless steel teeth. sturdy plastic handle...collects lice and mits as it goes.

I finally colored their hair and it never came back again, I had 2 girls with long long long hair, Didn't want to color it when they was young but about the ages of 12 and above I finally gave it a try. IT WORKED.

I still checked their hair when they came in from school and others houses by using the two combs mentioned above.
Never had to do the house treatment again, The combs caught it in the very beginning.
It was a daily time consuming work but worth it to me.

Hope this helps

Without shaving her head? You need to buy a nit comb--it has the teeth very close together. Thoroughly comb her entire head to get out the live lice and the eggs. You'll need to do this several times a day, as those little buggers are fast, and for several days.

The Rid solution is safe to use and does work well and quickly, she could be back in school by tomorrow, but you HAVE to do the combing, too, otherwise the eggs there will still hatch.

After spending $600, and even going to the doctor to get antibiotics, we even stayed in different motels. It was horrible, I washed everything in hot water, every day. We did everything we were supposed to and nothing worked. Rid x was a big waste of money, the doc even said the lice are becoming immune to the lice treatments. I did research on the internet, and found that rubbing alcohol does the trick. I poured it on my daughters head while she leaned back in the tub, with her eyes covered, and yes it stinks. But it kills the lice on contact. I left it in the hair to dry. You'll need to use really good conditioners in her hair, because it will dry it out, but not too bad. I poured the alcohol on her head once daily for three days in a row. During these three days, I combed her hair with a lice comb. It also kills the eggs, but I wanted to be safe. The alcohol doesn't irritate the scalp, and it's safe to use. I bought the 91 proof rubbing alcohol, and it's a lot safer and cheaper than the usual methods. Good Luck. Also, peppermint oil can be used as a lice repellent. I sprayed it on her pillows, carpet, etc.

Yeah, chemical suck, but headlice is worse, and if you use other treatments, they could build a resistance and become worse later on. From experience, I just want to say, don't take any chances, get rid of the lice quick with a dr. prescription for Quell.

My daughter got head lice from school when she was in kindergarten. I tried all the over the counter stuff from the pharmacy and nothing seemed to work. I spent hundreds of dollars on all the junk. When I called there Dr. to ask for a prescription she told me to try dog shampoo first. I know it sounds crazy but if you read on the back it does kill lice...since dogs tend to get it if they sleep with someone who has it. I tried it and it worked wonders. Just make sure that you condition her hair really good after wards. Hope this helps!!!

Head lice remedies which includes Rid or Nix will certainly kill the lice. A lice comb works, yet once you get a good the tooth comb (that's larger) and don't thoughts passing it sluggish, it is going to help. i prefer to advise getting a bottle of mineral oil and taking some cap-fulls to the scalp and hair. this could soften the hair and make the comb much less complicated to get by way of. take it sluggish and run the comb throughly in the process the hair utilising greater of the Nix answer. Doing this a pair of times and rinsing ok, could do the trick.

there are various ways. and i am being serious now.

get some mayonaise (you in reality could use just about anything really) cover her head in it completely..and i mean completely don't go going all mommy on her when she starts fighting you. once her head is covered get a shower cap or a plastice bag and keep her head covered. leave it there for AT LEAST 24 HOURS.

what this does is suffocate the lice and kills them off.

you might have to do this more than once but once is usually does the trick (depends on how bad it is)

then wash her hair thourghly-more than once obviously.

Pyrethrins. They are derivatives of marigold flowers.

They kill lice and some of the nits -- are remain active until you rinse the hair. Typically several treatments are required because the nits are not killed as efficiently as crawling lice.

There are many commercial products which contain pyrethrins and they are generally safe botanical solutions for this problem.

the only way I know of is with the chemicals in the special shampoo like "nix" You don't want the lice to keep coming back from the eggs hatching. I have heard of a pill you can get from a dr. is you have trouble getting rid of lice thru the shampoos
