Reason i ask; im going in a couple weeks and Im 20. I talked to one of my friends that has been and he said the age limit is 18 only on Bourbon street. True? Or do they just not care as long as your spending money and not causing trouble?

Officially, you have to be 21 to drink anywhere in the country. Unofficially, you ought to be able to get away with it. Don't be wasted and act stupid wearing Mardi Gras beads (by the way, it's not Mardi Gras), don't pee on anything, and you ought to be ok.

I am from New Orleans and they do check for ID at most places. But you can walk down the street with drinks and it is very easy to get anyone over 21 to get a drink for you everyone is just partying hard and enjoying themselves. You can even see chicks walking down the street with just g-string and pasties on their break from stripping to go grab a sandwich or something. Bourbon Street is Party heaven. Hope you have the time of your life. P.S. Bring lots of condoms you will probably need them.

You have to be 21 in the US to drink but I know that they really dont care. Just like you said as long as you spend your money and DONT CAUSE TROUBLE. we had a problem with a bunch of military guys going to New Orleans to drink and then come back. we lived about 45 minutes from New Orleans. HAve fun and watch your back or you might lose a kidney! ;-)

I went when I was underage and you had to be of drinking age, 21. But most places serve b'c they just want your money and don't really care like you said.
