I looked into having it done a few years ago, but was put off by a couple of things.

First, the danger of any kind of surgery. I have since had FOUR surgeries for other stuff, and would NEVER choose to have elective surgery.

Next, you have to change your eating habits once you've had the surgery. Smaller meals and chewing thoroughly are both important. But if you just eat smaller meals now, you wouldn't need the surgery.

Finally, you can gain the weight back if you don't stay on the diet. Just like without surgery.

Instead, I had a session with a dietician, who set me up with a great eating plan that was easy to follow and didn't feel like I was missing out on anything (it was a modification of the diabetic food plan). I've lost 80 pounds and feel great.

Surgical procedures such as these are not for people who are just overweight. They are for people who are morbidly obese and whose lives are at risk if they do not lose weight. A good friend of mine had a gastric bypass, and while it helped her to lose over 100 pounds, it also made her very ill for a while. Think about this decision long and hard. You will no longer be able to eat "normally." Your meals will be limited to a couple of bites, and only of certain foods. Carbohydrates will make you ill. Sugar will make you ill. Fat will make you ill. If you ignore your body's signals and eat those types of foods anyway, the weight will come back. If you lose a lot of weight quickly, as is the case with surgical procedures, you will have tons of loose skin and the only way you'll be able to get rid of it will be through surgery. This will leave you with horrendous scars all over your body.

So, if your life is in danger due to being 100 lbs. or more overweight, talk to your doctor (NOT a lap-band or gastric bypass specialist who, if unethical, will tell you to have the procedure even if you don't need it) to determine if this is the right course for you.

If you have less than 100 lbs. to lose, step up your diet and exercise regime. Join Weight Watchers or find a weight-loss support group. If you are limiting your calorie intake to 1500 per day and are exercising regularly and are still not losing weight, then you may have a metabolic condition. Talk to your doctor!

Weight loss surgery-like gastric bypass /lap band surgery / stomach stapling and gastrectomy have become very common and very safe now. My cousin got her Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery in India. She has lost more than 65 lbs in 5 months and is very happy with the results. The price for obesity surgery is very less in India. My cousin just paid 25% of the cost she was quoted in America. She got her surgery from a company called Forerunners Healthcare.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines. I have read a lot of their patient stories also. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as bariatric surgery and weight loss surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that your Obesity surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

I personaly have not had this done, but work with someone that did. They took the gastric bypass route, and WOW what a difference. It has been 6 years and she still looks great. She did it after her husband had the lap-band procedure done and had great success with it. Ask your doctor what is the best route for you, that is what they did, they were told which would work best for them respectively.

You are dieting and exercising as well, eventhough you couldn't loose weight because you have good assimilating power. Secondly your diet seems falty.
Avoid spicy, stale, fatty, sweetand stimulative diet. Add some salads and sprouts to your daily meals. It will yield result.

Get a personal trainer and he/she will help you lose the unwanted weight. Try that first because a trainer is more experience with helping people lose weight. Good Luck

I have not had it done, but it seems to be pretty popular. Talk to your doctor first though.
