Yes I think it is time and money. Mom drops kid off at day care, drives to work (traffic), gets to work, 8 hours later picks kid up (hungrey and tired) goes to drive through. There are more single moms and it is hard to do it all and we are driving everywhere and less walking or exercising. If you go to the grocery store apples are a buck, grapes and strawberries expensive. it you don't eat lettuce quick it goes bad. It is more expensive to eat healthy when things that are unhealthy last forever, taste better to some, and is cheaper.

I would say that you answered your own question there - as a lot of families need to have both parents working full time, it is difficult to find time to sit down and make food, let alone eat together.

Take my family for example. I work shifts at a hospital & my husband has an office job. We have two young children that are in school full time.

We need two wages but we still aren't able to pay all our bills. Our kids clothes are mostly given to us or bought at a thrift shop. Families like ous are falling apart & not eating the right food. Even though it is more epxensive, it is much easier to grab fast food on the go. My kids won't touch veggies but they will have limited fruit.

No-one in my household is over weight but that doesn't mean that we are fit. We do walk a lot though but I do feel that we need to get a healthy diet in place real soon.

The sad truth is that Healthy foods are more expensive than the unhealthy ones... Fresh produce and the good for you foods are so much more expensive than the high calorie and high fat substitutes...If you don't believe me check the prices the next time you go shopping....

Even the person above me is right... produce is expensive... Just like whole grain breads and cereals... They are so expensive... especially to those families that are on a tight budget... Everyone blames fast food for obese people... it's not just the fast food it's also what you buy at the grocery store.... If we want a healthier country we need to make healthy foods cheaper...

I think it's a lot of reasons why the American diet is unhealthy. We are busy and don't have time to cook, which usually means we don't have time to cook something good and healthy. The unhealthy stuff is easier to cook and it tastes better in some cases. I know when I was a child my mom would buy me McDonald's all the time because it was quick and easy and she didn't have to cook.

It begins at home with kids, its what they are fed, simple as that, fast food is out of qstn, be smart w/food, society is all about fast and quick and being fat. U would never see a heavy woman in Peru or Spain, they are taught to look and dress a certain way from age 3. In this country every one wants to eat and eat and eat and eat and eat. Its rediculous after a while.

Its approximately coaching and somebody being brave sufficient to declare that there is not any rapid restoration to an entire life of undesirable behavior. it rather is a symptom of our society that we look for a rapid restoration, be it in politics, coaching or well being - and are unwilling to confess that the themes are purely a symptom of our very own attitudes in direction of those themes. skinny women on magazine covers make me sense undesirable, so i visit consume some Ben and Jerrys till i've got self belief greater advantageous it rather is often somebody elses fault, no longer our very own. Advertisers and quickly-foodstuff chains made us consume foodstuff that became undesirable for us. weapons dont kill human beings, human beings kill human beings. we could provide everybody a gasoline tax trip rather of addressing the actual themes Does any of this sound familar? Edit: to respond to you question appropriate even with the incontrovertible fact that (rather than purely pass off on a rant) - confident i think of that the present obsession with rake skinny women will at last pass. If for no different reason than it is going to become further and extra tricky to discover women that length and so human beings would be unable to narrate to them to such an volume. Already we are seeing "rounder" women in promoting and on television (rather in music video clips) - as time passes and the inhabitants frequently expands those will become the norm.

There are fast food chains out there that offer healthy selections, if that does work take some time to prepare healthy on the go meals at the beginning of the week and then it done and you do not have to worry. Fast Food means super sizing and that's what we Americans are doing to ourselves and what kind of message does it send to our kids

I don't have time to prepare the meals I should for me or for my family. Usually, we will pick up something like McDonalds at least once a week. If we werent' running around so much I could prepare fresh wholesome meals.

Does this really need to be discussed? AGAIN.....

Time is an excuse. Its just as easy to find fresh fruit or vegatables as it is to stop at McDonalds.
