To deny science is purely ignorance. To deny God is not only ignorant, but plainly suicidal. A theist only has his credibility to lose if he is wrong about science, but an atheist has his entire eternity and soul to lose if he is wrong about God.

But I believe God gave us science. If it weren't for science, we wouldn't have heart surgery, internal combustion, and email. One can choose to think science is evil, but the moment they put on their clothes, the moment they eat a microwave dinner, or the moment they type a religious document on word for windows, they become hypocrits.

Science isn't evil. It's like money. Money isn't evil, it's the love or the misuse of money that's evil. Science can perform wonderful things for people or it can assist in wreaking havoc on the world. But it can also give us a tiny, tiny glimpse of what the cosmos is really about. God created things and those things work a certain way. We use science to try to understand those things to better harness the power that God breathed into them.

While most of the Christian world won't accept science, I've found that science's understanding of the formation of the universe fits well with the story in Genesis. Things are in all the right orders, and if you look closely, even the story of God forming man could fit perfectly. If a believer can accept that God created the universe in billions of years, and that one day can mean one work period, then why can't they accept that it might have been that long while God created man. After all, he created laws of physics to govern our abilities, so why would he only put them into effect the moment we took our first breath?

The bible says that adam was created from dust and that eve was created from a rib on adam's side. Dust, dirt, primortial soup, whatever. The simple forms that rose from the primordial soup could have begun the chain that began life, but God would have still had to allowed life. Each of those simple cells would then split into two, as if one were being created from the rib of another. The two would be ever so slightly different, and changes in DNA would create the ability for their to be two sexes way down the line.

To me it makes perfect sense. Science can tell alot more than you think, with or without Darwin's help. Genetics, though partially dependent on darwin's observations, also shows evidence of evolution.

There are alot of theories out there and no scientific laws that deny creation as we want to know it. But if we can stop thinking so small minded and realize that how long it took doesn't take away from the power of God, we might actually be able to have civil conversations about the necessary aspects of religion and spirituality with some very nice scientists.

You would be surprised at how much actually starts to make sense once you open your eyes to the connection between religion's creation story and science's formation story.

In the words of my singer, "From the river to the mountain top, there's some common ground."

God exists. So does science. God made science. God made the universe and everything in it abide by the laws of physics from the very beginning after "Let there be light".

"Let there be light" and "the big bang" are just two different ways of saying that the universe was pushed out from the center of nothingness. The hand of God is energy.

The problem is that if it were a matter of faith, you may have faith that 2+2=5. Would that make that addition true? I mean, faith doesn't guarantee it's not a lie.

And more importantly, you don't have to prove anything, UNLESS you expect others to convert, or to live according to your standards. If you want me do things just because god said so, you'll have to give me more than just "Have faith". And this includes such things as not working on Good Friday, frowning upon gay marriage, and so on, and on, and on.

If on the other hand, you don't want to shove your principles down my throat, you don't have to prove me anything.

You don't, and there is nothing wrong with you having faith. Just don't be surprised when others do not take the same leap of faith.

From a standpoint of logic, though, if one is trying to argue the existence of God, the burden of proof must lie on trying to prove the affirmative. This is the same as trying to prove guilt in a courtroom. It is almost always impossible to prove a negative (like God doesn't exist, or you didn't commit a crime), so the burden of proof always lies on the postive. So if you are trying to prove or disprove God's existence (not that you have to do this), the burden of proof is yours.

But there's nothing at all wrong with having faith, so long as you recognize it as faith and not as logical proof.

I have faith. And I find it really awesome when stories from the Bible are pr oven to have really happened. Major things, like the Sodom and Gomorrah thing. Earthquake, fire from the ground and they slid into the Dead Sea. It all really happened. This scientific evidence proves the Bible and strengthen our faith even more.

WE don't have to prove the Bible against science. It is the scientists (some) who are trying to prove science against the Bible. Those that do this are incapable of accepting any power in the world greater than themselves. This is the same sin Satan committed and they will share his fate.

Let's look at it this way:

If you are answering this question to the affirmative, you are making no claim of faith whatsoever, and therefore your statement above is meaningless. You are effectively talking only to people who either a) agree with you, or b) can't understand you.

Why are you wasting your time, then?

faith without any ground is just blind faith. have blind faith on me and give me 10 millions and perhaps i will never return this money to you. faith should be based on theory of probability. and to move mountains you do not need to have faith in JESUS. have faith in yourself only.peple in a deep hypnotic state can walk on burning coals easily without being hurt.study hypnosis to understand the rationality behind the magic of faith and to reach hypnotic state you do need to have faith in any GODS OR SON OF GODS.children play with toys, similary adults play with the images of gods. gods are toys of adults.

the real question is why do people think that you can only believe one or the other?

ex: people will argue creationism vs evolution as if god couldn't have planned/controlled evolution. just because the bible says god created man doesn't necessarily mean that he snapped his fingers and modern man magically appeared. why couldn't he have created man slowly, THROUGH evolution?

You don't have to prove anything, but some people feel they need physical proof of things. It's sad they don't have any faith.
