I would also say about $10/hour especially since you have two kids. It also depends on your relationship to the sitter. If it's someone new and you've never met them before and were just referred to them by a friend then I'd pay them $10/hour. If it was a family friend or family member (neice or cousin or something) then they'd probably be more lax about what you pay them. Also, that 11 year old is getting close to the age of being able to watch themselves so it's not like the sitter is going to be having to change diapers or anything so that works out in your favor. 7 hours is quite a long time to have a babysitter too, & $70 is definitely a lot of money... so maybe you could see if $50 would do? One thing is that I would absolutely ask them what their going rate is before Saturday becuase you don't want to have some conflict over this right before you leave. It's definitely a good thing to figure this sort of thing beforehand, or you might end up having to pay more than you'd like. Good luck!

In the Bay Area (California), the going rate for more teenagers is $7-10 per hour. If more than one child is involved, it's typically $10. If one or both children are particularly difficult, consider more or a nice tip when you pay.

Based on the ages of your kids and the time of day involved, I would say 8.00 an hour. I'm assuming that the sitter will have to get some kind of meal prepared and get kids ready for bed. I think 8.00 is a good amount.

I got paid $5/hour when I was a babysitter, two kids, I was 15 and in a small town. That was about 5 years ago, but I doubt there's been much inflation in that industry :)

My opinion would be to use the legal minimum wage as a start. If the service is good raise the bar to keep your provider happy. Child care is a greatly underpaid profession.

I've been told 5 dollars an hour for one kid and add an extra 2 dollars for each additional kid, but to make sure I'd ask the babysitter what she normally charges.

Expensive. For an infant, about 200+ a week. Toddler, 180+ per week. An older child, part time is school, about 150+ per week. If you live in CA.
