Niether. Just because a preist( this would go against Catholics) is gay does not mean that her would not molest a child. It is in person's heart if he is going to be a pendophile or not, and just because the preist has a sexual preference does not mean he is not capable of molesting children.

Yes, absolutely, assuming the gay priest is not a child molestor.

There was a very clever South Park episode on this topic. The parents were uncomfortable with the flamboyant Big Gay Al as scoutmaster, so they asked for him to be removed and replaced by a macho ex-marine. The new scoutmaster turned out to be much more of a menace, taking nude pictures of the boys. Yes, I know it's a fictional show, but there have been real-life cases just like this. You can't judge a book by its cover.

First I think it's important to understand that, thankfully, these cases are continuing to decrease nationwide (USA). Of the estimated number of all child abuse and neglect cases (872,000), only 9.7% were sexually abused (around 85 children).

With the issue being more prevalent in public and parents talking more with their child on the issue, it is important to recognize that the rate is decreasing while reporting has increased.

The second issue to point out is that no one knows who will abuse their children beforehand. If we did, there would be no incidents.

Additionally, there have been no concrete evidence to indicate that those who molest children are homosexuals. While various religious based organizations claim to have evidence to the contrary, it might be a case where the offender claims homosexuality as a disease and that their actions should be judged accordingly.

Staticially, a child would be much safe with the gay priest.
Straights are much more likely to molest than gays on scales of magnitude. While gay molestation (especially from the Roman Catholic church coverups) gets more shocking headlines, straight molestation is much more common.

What does someones sexual preference have to do with their capabilitie of stealing a childs innocence and raping their spiritual being in the name of tenderness. A gay priest no more frightens me then a lesbian teacher. What does frighten me are the gay haters who assume such horrible things of people just because their different from you. Watch boys dont cry, and brokedown mountain. These are truly good people capable of love
I wish you well

Your reasoning is odd. Why would you put these two in the same category? Gay is gay. Molester is molester (whether gay or straight).

Well, of course! If one is a child molester and the other isn't, I'd rather leave my children with the one who isn't. Never mind what he does in his private life.

Now, do you think it would be safe to leave your children with ANY priest at all? What if they brainwash your children?

Absolutely!
I have no issues with the character of gay priests.

Both acts are sinful. If you only focus on the acts of a few, you miss the Christian love of the many. The Church does not condone either one. It's like a fag sneaking into the Republican Party. The United Methodist Church does not condone homosexual ministers, but I know that some have lied and gotten into the ministry.
