For your entire house you should paint an off white color. Not a bright white. Home Depot or Lowes can show you many colors of white that are not bright. That way each member can choose what color they like down the road. If you paint all one color, as in a taupe, you may get tired of every room looking the same. A soft white doesn't get boring and easier to play around with whether or not you decide to change it.

Go to a Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams paint store and buy the whole fan of all of their colors. It will only cost about $15. and you will be able to choose from every shade. Warm beiges and soft aquas are very nice and they go together well.
